Once a project starts it is fundamentally unfair to halt construction unless shoddy construction can be proven.

Even Liberal Trudeau is upset.
I’m sure he is. It’s a worthless project that simply uses the country as overhead for its route. We gain nothing.

That’s what the Democrats (and frankly some Republicans) want. More dependence on government, meaning more power for them!

It’s not an evil plot to make anyone dependent on them. There are no conspiracies... step away from the polonium tea.

Do you think it fair to pull the permits once they got started just becuase Biden FEELS like it?

This is banana republic stuff.

I'm going to start another thread on how some think we could keep gas under $1.

The Keystone XL pipeline - which is already under construction - has now been shelved indefinitely thanks to an E.O. from President Biden.

That may have been one of his stupid moves but the dumbest move of all was his alienation of his working class supporters by putting his anti-working class credentials on full display Day one.
It seems to me that those working class folks in the oil industry were the very same people who were attending Trump rallies. At no point were Oil workers supporting Joe Biden. So if the argument is he is alienating his constituency, I just don't believe that's the case. Trump certainly was much much worse at doing these types of things.
For Kristian Trumpers are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

My Union is one of the largest Unions in the North American oil industry. We backed Biden.

It’s consistent with the Obama administration line on the lousy project. Shipping Canadian oil to the gulf to be loaded on a ship is a bullshit premise.

Like I said...

The first move on a ongoing war on oil and coal...
(Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration has temporarily suspended oil and gas permitting on federal lands and waters in the latest of a series of rapid-fire orders aimed at fighting climate change and tamping down the U.S. fossil fuel industry.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Do you think it's fair? What if it was the company you worked for?

Put yourself in their shoes (What if it was buses and Biden halted all buses by EO)?

This is such a strange wedge issue. The overwhelming majority of the jobs lost are temporary, related to the construction of the pipeline. Politifact cites the State Department's projection of only 50 of these jobs being permanent. The bulk of the wealth is generated from the refining and distribution of the oil in the pipeline. Much like Line 5 that runs through the Mackinac Straits, the big concern is the impact an oil spill the pipeline would have on the Ogallala Aquifer, one of the largest freshwater reserves in the world. The potential cleanups could cost much more than offset any short term profits. I doubt the opposition to the pipeline would be nearly as strong if environmental concerns were properly addressed. A pipeline, overall, has a lower carbon and environmental footprint than transport of fossil fuels via trains, trucks, etc..

I will be interested in seeing how Biden's "Build Back Better" plan accounts for the loss of construction jobs related to this pipeline, or if playing some political hardball forces TC Energy to build through a less environmentally sensitive route. This would increase building costs, which is certainly be a more risky investment for TC Energy given the planned divestment from fossil fuels in the long term, but if the pipeline represents such an economic boon, I'm sure they will still foot the bill.
I'm here for a good, hearty debate, to agree and disagree respectfully, and commiserate on the current state of terrestrial radio.

Me? I’ll roll up my sleeves and follow President Biden’s lead. Whatever he’s planning. Whatever he’s reversing. Because he’s good in soul and spirit. Not rotten to the root. Because he is trustworthy, tried-by-fire substance. Not showy, self-before-others slime.

I hope I survive this pandemic so I can see America awake from her Trumpian night terror - of unAmerican isolationism, presidential lies for power, and pro-Trump-press lying propaganda - for profit.
Why aren't you ranting about Biden's Vietnam deferments?
