Keeping the price of gas low
Keeping the price of gas low
So I read someone posting something on another blog. I'll not get it exact, but here ya go:
Even the slightest reduction in gas consumption will make the price of gas fall.
Everyone just doing the speed limit would make the price of gas fall.
This person (don't know if it was a guy or a gal) says even a slight drop in consumption will cause a big backup in the supply chain. Freighters would be sitting full waiting to unload. Refineries would have nowhere to put the product because their tanks aren't getting emptied. Excess capacity would make the price drop.
You get the idea. They said the worse thing people can do when the TV says the price is going up is run out and fill up. Do just the opposite. Only get what you really need when they say the price is going up, and it never will. It will drop instead.
I thought it interesting. Basically causing a backup would drop the price.
Just thought I'd let my fellow Buzzboarders ponder it.

The market is more complex than that. The oil Companies will use any pretext as an excuse to increase pump prices. Frost in Brazil, flooding in Asia, the death of a third world despot, a celebrity divorce - - - -
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.
Re: Keeping the price of gas low
I think there is SOME legitimacy to that thought. Think of what happened last spring when COVID initially hit, places closed up and we were all told to stay home. Gas hit under a $1 a gallon in several places because consumption by American drivers nose dived. It just went back over $2 a gallon just before Christmas
Re: Keeping the price of gas low
Interesting theories... but I think the discount is about over.
The recent marionette change in DC alone means fuel prices will rise.

Re: Keeping the price of gas low
I doubt it. Recall that even in 2014 or 15 gas was briefly down to $1.50 or less when oil cratered. That was under Obama. With low demand and a greater supply due to improved ways of extracting the oil you won’t see massive spikes. Recall too that the record for gas prices came under Bush in 2008. Party matters not a whit here.
Re: Keeping the price of gas low
When 40% of office workers no longer have to commute, you get $2 gas AND oil production in Texas grinds to a trickle.

That much, eh?
W@H orders that started ~10 months ago made a stark difference in consumption / prices, but it sure seems like traffic around here has bounced back to near-normal levels. Not that the gold coast here in da Mitt is a harbinger of the nation's need / desire to drive, and I wouldn't necessarily call it consistent, but the Uber-xxxx-less still gotta get to the ski slopes / Take Out place & back some way.

Threads like this give me fond memories of my recently departed younger brother (RIP Jimbo). We had a phrase to describe certain individuals. That phrase was "worlds foremost".
Worlds foremost?

worlds foremost authority on what?

I didn't ask or suggest anybody should shut up.Of course we could all just shut up and let you do the talking.
If I did I'd offer it but I'm not the worlds foremost.clearly you have a better idea than the rest of us on this.
My problem is the frequency in which people confuse their opinions with "facts".

Yep. It's called the Dunning Kruger effect and is rampant in these Q Anon idiots. They craft their reality based on a kernel of truth and the rest is all fear driven. They say COVID is fake while ignoring the science. It is a true epidemic.craig11152 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 10:10 amThreads like this give me fond memories of my recently departed younger brother (RIP Jimbo). They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
