WMYD (RF31) will be switching over to ATSC 3.0 on December 7th.

It will carry the Next Gen version of its own and other local stations main .1 channels.
Its ATSC 1.0 channels will be moving to other stations and some of the channels from those stations will be moving as well.
So, if you lose channels around 12/7, remember to rescan for them.

They are expensive and hard to find. Most affordable one I know of will be the Zapperbox M1 due out around February next year.
From what I have heard of other DMA’s who have brought ATSC 3.0 online, get ready for a lot of signal interruptions and software updates.

I’m not gonna spend a ton of money for one.
The main channels will have ATSC 1.0 duplicates and the stations probably don’t have a ton of 4K production equipment yet. I’ll wait till there are $50 tuners.

The current only option is the HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0, which allows the signal to be picked up by apps on your computers, roku, etc... Which I don't really want, I want a box, preferable w/DVR, that does ATSC 3.0 that hooks right up to the TV.

Bad News, there is only 1 turner available that is reasonably priced, but it is for connecting to your computer network, not directly to the TV. So I won't have a ATSC 3.0 turner when the switch happens.
Good News, when I do get a ATSC 3.0 DVR box for my TV I will have stations to pick up.

No biggie for me. Chances are they will be just upscaled 1080i anyway, since most stations don’t have a ton of 4K HDR equipment yet. The ATSC 3.0 channels will just be simulcasts of the ATSC 1.0 main channels from each participating station.
There will also probably be a lot of software updates and signal fluctuations as they play around getting COFDM right.
I’ll stick with 8-VSB ATSC 1.0 until I actually start losing channels I want.

WMYD’s ATSC 1.0 main channel simulcast will be hosted by WXYZ. Just passing along the info to all.smallwonder wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 1:26 pm 50 picks up Laff, 2 picks up Court TV Mystery, and 4 gets Antenna TV.
