Farewell Art Van - 300+ stores closing

Unread post by TC Talks »

Does anyone else think private equity firms are good for America?
Art Van Furniture Inc. will close all of its more than 300 stores after struggling with heavy debt and a disrupted furniture and mattress retail landscape under private-equity ownership
https://www.chicagobusiness.com/retail/ ... -liquidate

How do you think this will impact media?
For Kristian Trumpers are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

Outside of Buffet, private equity is largely about releasing value and winding down operations...

Big. AV lived large on TV around here, anyway.

Gonna miss Hazelton's hard-sells...

Well, it certainly can't be good for northern Michigan and U.P. television. Their spots were ever-present during newscasts and syndicated programming.

At least there's political advertising to take up the slack 'til the election.

The Art Van liquidations (or traveling circus sales based in their old locations) 'round here appear to _finally_ be over.

With the TV on in the background, I've heard occasional quick teaser ads ('Get ready northern Michigan') for Big Sandy Superstore (BSS)...

A quick online search seems to indicate they are at least taking over the old A-V location west of Gaylord, MI (odd part for me, this comes from Google Maps, not BSS web sites - none of those appear to have a clue about this). I'm wondering if BSS bought up and will be re-opening more or many of the old A-V locations, or if Gaylord is a one-off?

Traverse City will become a "Value City Furniture" location. Yay, more particle board junk!

Snob! Not everyone can shop at Ethan Allen, Regular folks like cheap.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Regular folks like to get their furniture home before they put a hole in the back of it.

Then they should shop at Ethan Allen. But, the masses like cheap. People actually buy furniture at Walmart.

I had some for a time. It wasn’t bad but it was obnoxious to build.

"Easy to Assemble."

But they never have any instructions. Jut very crude drawings.

They must think we're all illiterate.
