Re: Ron Cameron
Why does he love Matt Shephard so much when he's a terrible baseball announcer?
Re: Ron Cameron
Was that a new caller who got Ron's dander up about umpires? I took a call & only heard the end of it.
Now this caller wants Ron to be part of Bob Page's podcast, unaware that Eli would never agree to that.

Re: Ron Cameron
It was someone named Rob and he really got Ron going about umpires. I'm not sure if he was trolling Ron or was serious.
Re: Ron Cameron
Ron was talking about Bob Page was so concerned about not getting calls, a problem Ron figured how to avoid. Ron should be a radio consultant.

Re: Ron Cameron
I am always surprised at the new callers that call Ron. It makes me wonder how many listeners he has?
Re: Ron Cameron
I'd like to think this Board has increased his audience.wtfdetroit wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 3:21 pm

Ron makes such a big deal about callers adding Michigan to the named Michigan city, "We know it's Michigan." But he just brought Kurt back on, referring to him as "Kurt from Fraser." Ron, we know Kurt's from Fraser!
Re: Ron Cameron
Ron's getting so many new callers that he may have to impose a one call a month limit.
Re: Ron Cameron
There's a method to Ron's madness. He recycles the same tired old stories, sometimes even in the same show, because he's saving his primo stories for his book.

Re: Ron Cameron
Ron's big possible upcoming guest is Duke Sims. Never heard of him.
Re: Ron Cameron
Duke Sims had an 11-year career in the major leagues and was part of the Tigers in 1972 and 1973. Sims was a good player during that era of baseball. Ron Cameron was in his halcyon days as a talk-show personality at that time. It makes sense that Mr. Cameron mentions Duke Sims now.

Re: Ron Cameron
I was half listening to today's 2 hour program so I caught bits and parts. The guy who called saying the ump made a bad call, was that on Josh Donaldson who proceeded to cover home plate during his home run trot? I heard Ron going off but missed the first part of that call but as I've said before Ron's biased protection of the umps is really quite ridiculous. You'd think he was still getting paid today by the umpires association and he hasn't been an umpire for what over 45 years? So how long will Ron milk this " oh I'm so close, I've agreed to terms" thing with this restaurant thing? What kind of things will occur during the week that make it not happen? I remember about a year and a half ago or so he was going to get one in Livonia then that didn't happen because he thought they had strict rules on businesses....... I've heard of Duke Sims but I don't know how Ron can make the interview last an hour, than again I can because Ron will spend half of it interviewing himself.
Re: Ron Cameron
Indeed, Ron & the umpires/referees he ferociouslessly defends at all times. He pats himself on the back not being the homer that characterizes some of the local broadcasters he regularly attacks, never realizing what a homer he is for those who hold the job he left over 50 years ago! And that he was a homer for the Wings all the years Ken “he can do no wrong” Holland was GM &, providing Ron his only relevant guest, regularly appeared on his show. And ever since Al Avila once appeared on his show after becoming GM, Ron changed from being a reflexive Tigers basher - even in their good years - to a bootlicking defender of the Tigers (the acquisition of Jake Rogers alone making the Verlander trade a great one). Yes, Ron, with his sweeping narcissism, very much practices his own form of narcissism. Yet we have a caller today praising Ron’s integrity!
As for the restaurant, as any skilled - if not, in Ron’s case, successful - snake oil salesman, Ron can sell a good con. Whether it’s callers who are the figment of his imagination or a deal on an upcoming business venture. Ron’s adept at making the unitiated believe what he says. I used to tell friends that his show was can’t-miss radio because it was the best theater of the mind. That is Ron, a man of sterling integrity.
