Wow....can't believe this. He just announced this like last week? RIP Jamie
Re: Jamie Samuelsen
He was on the air talking about it on Monday. Crazy. Such a sad thing. Only 48 years old.

Re: Jamie Samuelsen
I think of his wife and kids. How devastating. I really am hurt for them. And considering he was doing okay on Monday just goes to show (as RayQix said above) that life is just too damn short. And is gone in an instant. And it fuckin sucks.

Re: Jamie Samuelsen
If you heard how he sounded on Monday you could tell he wasn't doing okay...............But I was hoping it was just the treatment.
This absolutely sucks. One of the nicest guys in the business.

Re: Jamie Samuelsen
No one at 97.1 talked in any positive light or any optimistic tones about Jamie's fight with cancer, Jamie knew, in turn staff @ 97.1 were told, but he did pass quickly , after revealing last Monday about his struggles...so sad, one of the better on-air talking heads, and an all around decent man...I grieve for his wife and kids...

From 971 the ticket:
Jamie Samuelsen, longtime host at 97.1 The Ticket, passed away Saturday evening at the age of 48.
Jamie had been battling colon cancer since January of 2019. He announced his condition Monday morning with his co-host Stoney.
“Each morning since my diagnosis, I got up, turned on the radio mic and got to talk sports," he said. "I needed the escape from cancer, just like so many of our listeners who face hardships, grief and illness, too -- they turned to us in the morning for some levity in this crazy world.
"So I wanted to continue to have fun and not let cancer get in the way of doing what I loved."
A 25-year veteran of Detroit Sports Radio, Jamie joined The Ticket in 2012. You know him for his love of the San Francisco Giants, Northwestern Football, and most of all, his family.
Jamie was surrounded by his loving wife, Christy, and three children, Caroline, 16, Josh, 14, and Catherine, 11, when he passed peacefully in his home.
***Sweet Jesus. 16, 14 and 11. And they've been living with his diagnosis for a year and half. And then to lose your dad st such a young age. I'm biased; I lost my dad suddenly when I was 29, but they're just kids. Kids have lost their dad and a wife has lost her husband. Terrible.

Re: Jamie Samuelsen
One can only hope, the family had said their peace long before now.
We are all dealing with this as “fresh” but I’m sure they had known and that’s maybe the only solace in this.
Again..... goes to show that you need to make the best of the day.... because you never know when it will be your last.
Nickelback..... “If today was your last day....” is moving to me.
Like it or not.... it’s a musical reminder to hold the important things dear and let go of what isn’t.
