Trump has announced he will be sending more Federal forces into other major cities run by Democrats. These include Detroit, Chicago, Oakland, Baltimore, New York and Philadelphia. I’m not seeing anything approaching the level needed for this here in Detroit. This is a naked play to wreak havoc on cities controlled by the other party and nothing more. That or he’s trying to start a civil war or a race war.

But what’s the justification for sending them here? There’s nothing remotely going wrong in Detroit related to the protests. If I were Duggan, Craig and Whitmer I would seriously look at putting a gun to these guys heads from city, county or state police and seeing how they feel then.

Still, Craig said that the ongoing police brutality protests — most of which have been peaceful — have sapped the department of officers to patrol neighborhoods. On top of that, there also are now protests against summer school.

Craig said other major cities also are experiencing an uptick in violence, and, in his view, it is driven in part by the pandemic, the early release of criminals — and criminals who now feel especially emboldened to break the law.

The question of the day is: Does he want the feds coming here escalating a generally peaceful protest situation. They’ve worked awfully hard to keep it that way after all.

The same way they did in Portland. Bring a bazooka to a knife fight. They aggressively deal with protestors who aren’t doing anything which agitates the formerly peaceful folks and all hell breaks loose. Portland was calmer than it had been until these guys showed up. That’s part of why all the leaders there want them gone. They’ve undone a lot of hard work in reigning the situation in. Then Trump can say at the end of it “See! I brought law and order to Portland!!”... it’s political theater.
