Happy Independence Day

Unread post by sinklair »

Happy Independence Day to everyone working... and especially to those who serve our country.

Or as July 3rd is known at 25-66... “where did all the managers go?” holiday. Another day where managers take off while requiring the rest of us to keep the lights on. I can remember when I had a manager who used to come in each holiday to help out, to provide a meal, or just to thank those of us away from families. Those are days long gone at 25-66 where managers can’t get out of the office fast enough and say screw the little guy.

Managers always disappear on or even near holidays. Been that way in broadcasting since day one. 25-66 situation is not unusual.

That’s not true... as I’ve stated above... I’ve had managers at 25-66 and other stations that worked and/or made dinner, etc. Just because some managers are only in it for themselves doesn’t mean they all are. I had a News Director one year wake up early and cook the entire morning show news, production and master control a pancake breakfast... on Christmas morning. No one knew she was going to do it or expected it. It’s just some bosses are great and people you’ll run through walls for... and then there’s 25-66 style management. Do better and expect more.

You can add ABC12 General Manager Tom Bryson & News Director Jim Bleicher to the list.

It's tv. You work weird hours. You work holidays. It comes with the territory. Your boss owes you nothing. They give you a paycheck. If you don't like the amount, you move on. If you want to be promoted, you work towards that goal. I did not want my boss's job. Too political for me.

And I have every right to advocate for improved work conditions. If you/25-66 management don’t like it, then make things better for us. If that’s too much to ask, then maybe management needs to find a new line of work... not me and my colleagues.

Master: no. The 4th is a Saturday. So the powers that be wouldn’t benefit unless they gave off Friday as the holiday instead. That way they get a long weekend.

It’s their choice.

Most are jealous.

I like that.
I feel sorry for 101. Most idiots have no clue that they are idiots. Generally they like to think that they are smarter than everyone else.
