I say they should buy both WWJ and WKBD. Not only would Nextar pay a lot of money into both stations, I guarantee you that Nextar would relaunch actual news departments on both stations.
Unlike CBS, which is an absolute joke, I really feel Nextar would heavily invest in both stations.
I wouldn’t mind them buying WDIV, either. WXYZ? No way. I’m afraid Nextar would try to get rid of the famous and legendary Circle 7, with something nobody would like.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through June 3 at 5:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Starting a news operation in this day and age wouldn’t be worth it. CBS wouldn't likely sell either.CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 10:40 pmI say they should buy both WWJ and WKBD. I guess Nextar would be better off buying WDIV, then. I never cared for Graham’s leadership, anyhow.

Why is anybody selling anything? What makes you think Nexstar wants a station here?CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 10:55 pmRate This wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 10:45 pmStarting a news operation in this day and age wouldn’t be worth it. Never said they would. Just an idea or a thought.

The company's name is Nexstar, not Nextar. What evidence do you have that the company has a track record of rejecting well-established branding?
I will agree with you on one point - Nexstar's commitment to news seems pretty strong. Their decision to launch a standalone news operation on TV-3 in the Upper Peninsula impressed me. It's thinly staffed, but it's a helluva lot better than what viewers to WJMN-TV got under prior ownership.
Overall, they've done a fine job of running WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids. Cannot comment on WLNS in Lansing since I seldom if ever watch newscast material from that station.

Speaking as someone who worked for "Deathstar", such a purchase would be a death worse than fate. Sook and company would do NOTHING for any station that they would purchase. There is NO WAY Graham Media could be any worse than "Deathstar". God forbid they should expand their reach in Michigan or anywhere else.
