She's not terrible, but she isn't great either, she's pretty much copied what other states have been doing.

If I had advice for her, if someone from Virgina Tech calls, she should probably hear them out.

Why is 7 doing such a full court press to ban guns in Lansing? I get why they ignored the Black Panthers escorting the Detroit reps, but they are burning a lot of airtime trying to ram a new law through

How many states allow guns in their capitol? It’s the right wing equivalent of those laws about not idling in your driveway that Ann Arbor passed. Pointless and inflammatory.
Donald Trump… In your guts you know he’s nuts.

Whitmer made it very clear in her presser yesterday, that she would go so far as to take away licenses of bars, restaurants, hair salons, etc., if they fail to comply with her authoritarian order. Gee, that’s not tyrannical at all. She knows “orders” have no legal authority to take away citizen rights. If she doesn’t, she’s even dumber than I thought.
She does not base her decisions on data, she’s not even listening to her MERC group of leaders who are telling her is time to reopen certain businesses and some restaurants.
Don’t worry, though, I have a feeling members of her own staff will be leaking to the media soon that “Power has gone to her head” and they can’t get through to her. We’ll see if the press actually reports it.

Interesting. I wonder which members of her staff.
It seems to me most politicians can't think for themselves. They all have "advisors" that tell them what to do, say and think.
I believe the same thing is happening now with our governor. Who is telling her what's best?
Who is actually laying out these plans for her. It's possible she's doing this on her own, but I'm thinking that's not the case.

There has to be a point where the Gov and the AG start to realize that, the more rigid they get, the greater the chances are they are one term, one term only.

Did she actually ask the sheriff to arrest the barber?
Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

No. The AG wanted the Shiawassee County judge to rule on shutting down the barber shop immediately, which he declined to do. It doesn't seem like the Shiawassee Sheriff is involved directly in the barber shop situation -- but the Owosso Police Dept and Michigan State Police are.

Probably because Michigan is actually the 7th worse behind NY, NJ, CT, MA, LA, and DC? The confirmed case fatality rate isn't reliable because of the difference in testing rates and how soon testing was available relative to when many people were getting sick. Michigan was way, way behind on testing when all this started, inflating the number you are looking at. There were countless positive cases here that weren't tested -- if they had been, those positive results for people that lived would have normalized that number.

Data is a tricky business.

That makes no sense. The testing in Michigan is on par with many of the top states, so we're capturing nearly all the cases as "confirmed" and our currrent "confirmed" rate is down to about 7%. Your response might have held water the first couple weeks into the event, but not now.

Not one media person has asked why she exempted churches from her order by adding the no enforcement clause.

Why does she keep using the "you could infect 40 people" line??! That was never true even at the height of infections!!

The current R0 for Michigan is estimated between 0.6 and 0.75.
