Local iHeartRadio Firings
Local iHeartRadio Firings
As part of a nationwide restructuring, cuts have begun. Local jock pages have been removed from station websites across the country while the layoffs take place.
Locally Dave Conrad of B93 has confirmed he's no longer employed via his facebook page. Other cuts reported in building, but not confirmed.

So sorry for Conrad. Exchanging what’s worked for what iHeart thinks will work in the future? Given its decision-making track record, count on continued poor investments, bland programming, and the inability to attract an audience that means something.

This might go down as the worst single day in the history of radio.
What is even scarier is that radio is a copycat business. Iheart has established a new model for others to follow. It is more likely to get worse.

So sad! It’s hard to believe radio could get worse!
Hope to hear him back on the radio again soon.

Re: Local iHeartRadio Firings
Most of the cuts seem to be in the mid sized markets. A couple people in Toledo and Dayton got whacked, too.
I suspect the RIFs for traffic/sales and management will be as significant or even moreso.
It looks like the small market stations will be even more cookie cutter than they are now.
Detroit already largely controls GR and Toledo. iFart seems to be rolling out that same model across the country now. I'm sure Minneapolis will run Eau Claire now, Milwaukee or even Chicago will run Madison, etc.

I will be very curious to see if B-93 and WOOD radio's ratings stronghold remains in the next few months... Conrad is a significant loss for that station and Rick Albin was a great addition to the morning show. I have a feeling the tides could begin to turn. I can't help but wonder if this could be the break that Thunder 107.3 needs... now is the time for them to promote the heck out of their station...

WSNX lost a bunch of people a while back and Hot-FM made zero headway against them.I can't help but wonder if this could be the break that Thunder 107.3 needs... now is the time for them to promote the heck out of their station...
I doubt this situation will be any different. As long as the imbeciles inside Cumulus GR remain entrenched, I see very little risk of Thunder 107.3 ever becoming competitive with B93.
The frequency switch from 94.5 to 107.3 was so horribly mismanaged that an institution of higher learning should write a case study about it!

The PD / afternoon drive host at WSNX, Aly, was also fired.
I suspect someone from Detroit or Chicago will VT afternoons, and programming chores will probably be handled either by Detroit or some corporate hub.

Anyone know if any on-air personalities at WMRR were impacted?

Seems like a sizable number of those that were let go had many years in. It makes me wonder if there were some buyouts for the longer-tenured employees.Mickey Lolich wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 4:58 pmHere is the running list of iFart/iHeartless fatalities.
