AM 810 rockford
Either they now have night time authorization on AM or they are just not shutting down their transmitter after sunset. It's been on 24/7 for several weeks now. If I was a betting man, I'd place my money on the 2nd of those 2 scenarios.
Re: AM 810 rockford
WMJH 810 has no Night PSSA authorization. They are outside the WGY 0.5 mV/m 50% Skywave, but would only be eligible for a few watts nondirectional at most, which would not get out listenably near Grand Rapids. This is just one thing I don't like about PSSAs and translators. The rules and reasons for the rules are not well understood by many radio people today. But there is absolutely no point to leaving it on, even with Day power. The WCPT 820 (best known by the legacy call letters WAIT) power increase application shows the measured conductivity as 0.1 mS/m near the WMJH site.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

Their signal is stronger now, than it has been in at least a couple of years. Today on the northeast side of Grand Rapids it stopped on the seek button and there was splatter on both 800 and 820. There has been times when you could barely hear 810 on the northeast side. Probably still only running 500 watts or so.

Re: AM 810 rockford
It is still a slipshod operation, technically, as I can attest to, thanks to listening while on my morning commutes to Big Rapids.
Right now, the Prius' antenna is broken and the bleed AM 810 creates across the spectrum is noticeable as I get up by 10 Mile and continue toward the M-57 interchange. I am generally listening to 670 out of Chicago at that time and the decline in signal is significant.
Having been around as an observer during the "Magic 810" days when they were owned by Disselkoen, I guess they are making faulty operations the continuing element of their heritage.

So that's what that is. I've been hearing Spanish music over and under C2C AM on WGY in Lakeport.
