The Breeze one year later

Unread post by BKRPDM »

Any thoughts on 98.7, as it’s has been a year since the demise of AMP?

IMO, it sounded the best last December, when the playlist was probably at its broadest.

It's nice having an actual AC station, not one that plays nickleback, Auto tuned country, and rap.

The one major flaw of the station is their afternoon drive host. Having Chris Edmonds or Kevin O'Neill would be markedly better than Ian Richards, who sounds out of place on such a station. Ian would be a great fit on a Channel 955 or 96.3 WDVD, but on an AC station, why Entercom hasn't made a real effort (and maybe that have) to bring in one of Kevin or Chris is beyond me.

Night time host Frank Williams Jr. was also let go at 99.5.

Why the fuck anyone would want to get into on-air work in FM radio is beyond me. The pay is shit, the job security is non-existent, you are asked to wear multiple hats, and the industry is dying.
Bingo. I spoke to a former colleague just last week. They told me that it's even harder to make it, even with all those years experience.

I've toyed with the idea of trying to get back in for fun, but never to make a living. I've tried explaining to her that the days of full air staffs, live/local DJs, things like that are over. For every Mojo or Jay Towers or Mike Valenti, there's 100 people on the beach, or begging to get a job delivering the mail just to get in the building. To hell with it. There's no point anymore. You're better off joining Lynyrd Skynyrd, Guns N Roses, or the Detroit Pistons for better job security.

Podcast????

I'll contribute a "quote of the week" segment. :)
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Oh, geez, Bryce...that is SOOOOOO 2012 ;)

It's almost 2020 and I've yet to even check out any podcasts. It's more "choice fatigue" than anything.

On topic, I have few qualms with 98.7 other than more Christmas music. It's head and shoulders above what came before it.

Did "Smokey Rivers" and "Dusty Rhodes" come from the same polluted town? These air-names are TOO fake!

Are all of the shifts VT’d except for Chadd and Kristi? And are Chadd and Kristi in Detroit, or still in FL?
