Battle of the Christmas concerts

Unread post by lovinlife101 »

It’s semi-retired Hotrod Harris’ Classy Brassy Christmas and More versus ABC12’s Holiday Pops.

Classy Brassy Christmas was free last year, now it’s $15 for adults and $5 for kids. Expect numbers to be way down this year.

I’m hoping WNEM will have a Christmas concert too. I’m guessing they could have it at The Triangle.

No Mike Terry Lights special? The Yule log special required more producing!

I’m doing my own special!

It’s called “Classy Sassy Asses and More!”

At this point, Classy Brassy Christmas and Bore has sold about half of the venue’s capacity. Looks like there will be more people on stage than in the crowd. Guess charging people for an inferior product was a bad idea. But look on the bright side, it might be free next year! Heck, they might give away the remaining tickets for free tonight!

There is the the Pot calling the Kettle black.
No. The kettle is red, and I believe the Salvation Army bell ringer would make more money outside the venue than anything happening inside the venue.

“Batting 1000” would mean I’ve connected every time.

It’s impossible to be “batting 1000” when pitches go “over your head.”

I love the back and forth. However, you need more education if you think you’re going to step up to this.

Pot calling the Kettle black again. Let's see if you can come up with "interesting comment" from Fantasy Island.
Don’t we all require more education? I have two PHDs, and I’m continually learning.

When did you stop? Or better yet, did you start?

Anyway, the Capitol Theater will not be filled with paying customers tonight.

The Capitol Theater had to pay 25-66 to broadcast the concert, for the air tine, for the commercials they ran, for Harris and company’s time... then 25-66 goes out and sells sponsorships to Elga Credit Union. It’s a money grab by the station gift wrapped with holiday music performed by kids.
Wow, exploiting children for financial gain. Can it get any lower?

And I’m not surprised that most of the acts were “first-time” to CBCAM. When the acts in the past heard about the financial arrangement, they bailed.

There must be an unholy alliance with Sinclair and the Capitol Theater folks. First, the Capitol Theater is the location for Harris’ “semi-retirement” party, then the first-ever for profit CBCAM concert there.

Harris’ Boston buddies called the station a “bottom-feeder.” Yet he says he joined and stayed because of the people there. Who is he talking about?

sinklair wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2019 7:44 am Bill is just riding out his contract not trying to make waves. Watch for him to leave at the end of the year. He sees the writing on the wall with the recent staff departures in news. The only thing keeping him there is his son Chris who is the Assistant Chief Engineer (but really runs the place from a technology standpoint). The News Director worships the ground that Bill walks on, so he’s had it pretty good up to this point. But Bill sees through the smoke screen being put up from the corner office and is ready to bolt in time for the new year.
I figured Bill had the sweetheart deal. Rather than immediately being kicked to the curb, they offered him way less money and the opportunity to be “semi-retired.” I don’t believe a word of it. Just like when Joel was kicked to the weekends to “mentor younger talent.” What a joke.

I don’t blame Joel for bolting and wanting nothing to do with the place. It provided him an opportunity to keep working after being fired from 12 and now he doesn’t want it anymore.

Dave Blondie still brags about the place. It’s finally gotten to a point where people like him are the lead anchor. Guess it was all tears and hugs when Bill “turned the reigns” over to him. It’s like giving someone something of no value and it wasn’t yours to give in the first place.
