As I recall, the application or CP was modified and there was an associated Petition for Rulemaking to change from 102.3 to 102.9. I don't think they ever operated on 102.3.Did WMKC ever broadcast on 102.3 or did they move before signing on?

OK. Here we go. Dr. Donald Benson's Mighty Mac Broadcasting Petitioned for Channel 272A to be allotted to St. Igance, but decided that it would not be viable as a Class A and would generate more revenue as a Class C, so they didn't apply until a Petition for changing it to Channel 275C was approved.

Just talked to my sister, she says she would like to listen to Finster in the morning but can't receive 106.3 well where she is at (Traverse City ) says she is now back to listening to 103.5.ADD in TC wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 2:13 pm
As far as Finster goes,my 45 year old sister, who never heard of him before his time at WLDR, really likes his show. She says he is much better than their previous AM show, and the guys on KHQ are obnoxious. She previously listened mornings to 103.5,and she hates country music.

Fake news. This has been an unfounded rumor for years. BigFreq has no inside knowledge.BigFreq wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 6:14 am Much of Northern's cluster will soon be broken up, as deals are becoming lined up for each property; which will move to various buyers; including the multiple signals presently used to air ESPN. I would imagine the agenda of the new various owners would be to put new formats across those frequencies. It's possible ESPN could remain on one, but I don't speculate that will be the case. It would free up a low maintenance format for WLDR to scoop up and cover the market.

Sorry, NMRT - it's happening. Stations are being shopped right now, no deals pending because Mr. North Dakota Pepsi wants much more than they are worth.northradiotruth wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 9:00 amFake news. Re: 101.9 wldr
Certainly not fake news NorthRadioTruth... and certainly not inside knowledge. Although, I suspect you aren't in the Rolodex brokers make calls to when they are shopping. However, I would imagine any of the potential pending deals would not move forward until all of the signals have new potential homes, as it wouldn't be in the interest of the current owner to try and maintain a partial cluster with the existing overhead; especially if KLT were spun first (as it's the most desirable station and likely the lone signal with any form of respectable revenue).

Re: 101.9 wldr
True I'm not on the Rolodex of people who want to sell radio stations but I know someone who is and this scenario of NBI being on the market and no one buying because of the cost has been around this buzzword for five years. So what are they waiting for? The owner sold the tower rights a few years ago. So how high could the price be to buy the stations?
Re: 101.9 wldr
I still would be surprised if any of Henderson's stations are sold with this round of NBI's.
He paid 3.25mil for WLDR, and overpaid for the Benzie/Manistee properties too and I just don't see him getting what I suspect he feels they are worth.
A cluster of 3 went for 6 million in Denver a while ago, no one is going to pay significantly more than a modest multiple of cash flow for these.

Re: 101.9 wldr
Certainly talk of selling has been subject matter for several years; no argument there. However, there are legitimate dealings on those signals now, with a broker as a middle man. Whether the stars align, and deals are all filed simultaneously, or the bulk are sold and others LMA'd to exit the day-to-day business, remains to be seen. I would imagine something will begin to stir in a matter of weeks, or perhaps a few more months. But I'm pretty confident we won't be discussing this cluster a year from now. Meanwhile, we may be discussing the status (or lack thereof) of WLDR for years to come.northradiotruth wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 9:24 pm True I'm not on the Rolodex of people who want to sell radio stations but I know someone who is and this scenario of NBI being on the market and no one buying because of the cost has been around this buzzword for five years. Henderson would be lucky to get 1 million combined for all of his sticks IMHO.TC Talks wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 9:25 pm I still would be surprised if any of Henderson's stations are sold with this round of NBI's.

Speaking of the Benzie sticks, I heard what sounds like an iPod running music on 92.3 yesterday. I heard "Itchycoo Park" by the Small Faces segue into a song I didn't recognize. When I first heard Itchycoo Park, I thought the 1450/92.7 pair in Ludington were simulcasting on 92.3, until I turned to 92.7 (which comes in very weak in Manistee) and that stick was playing a different song
Re: 101.9 wldr
Interesting,I heard the same type of music on 92.3 late last night.
Re: 101.9 wldr
Just heard a legal WBNZ ID on 92.3.I can't pinpoint the format since I haven't reconized any of the songs.Sounds like a mix of classic rock and alternative rock.
Re: 101.9 wldr
Monitoring 92.3 right now. No top-of-the-hour ID or any other breaks in the music.ftballfan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 8:58 am Speaking of the Benzie sticks, I heard what sounds like an iPod running music on 92.3 yesterday. Eh, a pirate radio format is a nice change-of-pace...
(Update: They did ID at 11:35AM with the positioner "The Hard Rock Authority".)
Re: 101.9 wldr
There is the silent 92.3 WBNZ licensed to Frankfort.
