How Wheels 106.7 programs by the hour
Re: How Wheels 106.7 programs by the hour
It seems to be Greater Media reacting to the competition. Since they own both WRIF and WCSX they had the rock market in Detroit wrapped up. But now they have someone trying to the pick up the audience from both their stations, by being right between the two playlistwise.

We'll see if Beasley has to worry about 1067 in a few weeks when ratings come out. Personally I don't think "Fake Wheels" will be a threat. The format is not that impressive.

Agreed. 106.7's normal playlist is garbage. Music for factory rats in their late 40s & 50s with bland, superficial taste in rock music.
When the station does Deep Cut Saturdays, the playlist sounds a helluva lot better.

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.
Re: How Wheels 106.7 programs by the hour
Not lately, Saturday's are starting to sound like during the week with very few different titles.
Re: How Wheels 106.7 programs by the hour
It appears to me that they are doubling down on the 70's stuff. Christ almighty. Same shit different station.
New generation of classic rock my ass.
New generation of classic rock my ass.
Re: How Wheels 106.7 programs by the hour
I streamed them this afternoon during Podell’s show and definitely more 70’s not impressive of a good format it’s becoming normal stuff again. There’s some great metal apps in the google App Store good music check it out if you stream.

My only request is that they play an AC/DC song at 4:45 every weekday afternoon. That pounding beat at high volume always helps me forget the work day.

Here's a quote from an 12/26/1987 article by Gary Graff in the Detroit Free Press. He was reviewing the year in Detroit radio.Myron Falwell wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 7:16 am1. People want to hear the hits, and hear familiar voices play the hits. Studies have proven that time and time again.
2. No format has been tested to death moreso than AOR and the formats that followed it, including this iteration of classic rock. That's been going on since the 1970s, not 1996.
3. iHeart has shared music logs between their like-formatted stations. There's little variance between WLLZ and WXZX in Columbus.
"MUSICALLY, ALMOST every station seemed caught in a web of research-oriented conservatism. With the appearance of classic rock station WCSX-FM (formerly WMJC, 94.7), album rockers WRIF and WLLZ-FM (98.7) programmed more old music and cut back on new music and on alternative cuts from albums by established artists. Adult-contemporary stations, meanwhile, continued to search for a consistent identity to sell to their audiences. Only Top 40 stations such as WCZY-FM (95.5), WHYT-FM (96.3) and Windsor's CJOM-FM (88.7) seemed to progress during 1987, opening their playlists to meatier fare from U2, R.E.M., Los Lobos, Squeeze, Suzanne Vega, Cameo and Bon Jovi."
Re: How Wheels 106.7 programs by the hour
106.7 has now officially lost me. Fuck them. Now every other song is a retread from the 70's. What a disaster the 3 main rock stations in Detroit are.
Re: How Wheels 106.7 programs by the hour
I can’t figure out why 106.7 is doing TV advertising on Fox Spirts Detroit. As someone who lives outside the Detroit area, their ads are irrelevant to me...
Re: How Wheels 106.7 programs by the hour
senpaisai, Ditch Queen and Kansas, and you got something. A lot of good choices
Re: How Wheels 106.7 programs by the hour
They've got literally 30 years of music to choose from (70's, 80's and 90's)and they play the same overplayed, worn out stuff that everyone has heard a million times. Its insane.
Re: How to program Wheels 106.7 by the hour
How perfect is that quote? The homogenization of Detroit rock radio is in full swing. All 3 major rock stations are almost interchangeable. What a disgrace for a city with such a proud musical history.Bobbert wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 7:23 pmHere's a quote from an 12/26/1987 article by Gary Graff in the Detroit Free Press. What makes it even sadder is that quote was from a time when there was more variety on local radio—commercial stations playing classical, jazz, and easy listening music; more local talk radio; more AM music.JLesinski wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 7:15 amHow perfect is that quote?
