The Washington Post had the greatest Super Bowl commercial of all time relating to freedom of the press.

Knowing empowers us.
Knowing keeps us free.
Democracy does in darkness.
And many police agencies across the country have gone dark, encrypting police scanner traffic because “Derp, bad guys could be listening and it could, derp, put us at risk!”
Oh, you poor babies! Maybe elected politicians shouldn’t allow anyone to see their emails, phone calls, expense reports, and so forth because, “Derp, bad guys might get a hold of it.” Unacceptable!
Grow up! You don’t want to be accountable for your actions and you know it!
Here’s an idea! How about a journalist who’s been around a long time advocate for scanner traffic to be public? Oh, that’s right, he’s retiring, he’s friends with all the cops that want to hide, and his wife was a dispatcher.
Better look elsewhere.
