And what is your source.CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 3:08 pmSteve Korvette wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 3:02 pmDetroit will keep losing its population status the next census is in 2020 that’s next year, Duggan is already campaigning to get the residents counted he was on 760 last week talking about it, Detroit currently has 700,000 residents, I bet when that census hits it will be 500,000 we will see.
500,000? Now that’s extreme! It was like 673,000 (estimate) in 2017.

I said I bet, Didn’t say it was an estimate it was clearly a guess read it again, You on the other hand are saying it’s an estimate, So where is your proof of your estimate.CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 6:31 pmWhat is your source that it will be 500,000 next year?Steve Korvette wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 6:07 pmIs 500,000 to extreme that’s just 173,000 away from your 2017 estimate. To be exact, the 2017 population is 673,104
To be honest, it looks like millennials or the younger generation will be the ones to bring this city fully back. The ones moving back to the city proper seem to be young singles.
Too much baggage with the older generation, as they are the ones who had to watch the city decline.

Look it up
Wikipedia gives all the information
Re: Comcast and NBC in Detroit
I not arguing I just need to know where the info is coming from Also The United States census bureau has those same numbers you stated and you’re correct, So I over estimated the population, I said 700,000. And the city’s decline is not a generational thing it’s all political BS all the crooked crap through the years and even today. So get off that generational trip your on.

The city’s decline has everything to do with Detroit losing its tax base. That’s the issue. That’s why they are trying to clean up the schools and neighborhoods now.
Re: Comcast and NBC in Detroit
The tax base isn’t gonna come back to the point that the city has nearly 1.8 million residents. Nowhere near that would be possible these days... what’s to draw 1.3 million people to the city alone let alone the suburbs?CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 7:49 pmNo need to get confrontational, my friend.Steve Korvette wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 6:47 pmI not arguing I just need to know where the info is coming from Also The United States census bureau has those same numbers you stated and you’re correct, So I over estimated the population, I said 700,000. Re: Comcast and NBC in Detroit
It’s unrealistic for it to be 1.8 million again. Maybe back to a million or close to it in about thirty years.
Re: Comcast and NBC in Detroit
But probably in the 20’s by then... that won’t get it done...CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 10:53 pmIt’s unrealistic for it to be 1.8 million again. Maybe back to a million or close to it in about thirty years.

The "crooked crap" including Detroit's being run by the Mob and KKK in the 20's and 30's when my mother was growing up in the "D."

Fox is shrinking its presense in Detroit. It sold Fox Sports Detroit to Disney who is in the process of divesting FSD and its sister RSNs
Where do you get this from??? Graham Holdings NYSE stock went way up since November, they increased their dividend and they trade over $650 a share. You can go into their operating ratios for youself. But, it doesn't seem like what you said is true.I don’t think Graham is doing well financially.
Detroit as a city is not a lucrative market. Most of the city of Detroit makes less then $25,000 and population growth is stagnant.
And this TV market, as of January 2019 is ranked 14th. Get your DMA facts from Nielsen. The Detroit DMA is about 80,000 households behind the real number 13.
WDIV has been one of NBC's top performing affiliates. You can see it about doubles 2's and 7's news ratings. At some point WDIV was the highest rated NBC affiliate in the Eastern Time Zone. So, NBC and WDIV do very well by each other.
Its always possible NBC could buy any station or even pull what it did in Boston. But, that scenario is turning ito a failure.
I see where Comcast is expanding but, its mostly in internet platforms and sports. I would actually like to see them pick-up FSD but, theyre apparently not in the bidding.
So, how many stations has NBC bought lately to make this part of expansion plausible?
Detroit's population estimate is still going down.
2016 - 677,116.
2019 - 673,104.
Opinion, not fact.
Population decline has not only drastically slowed down, many are expecting it to show a slight increase very soon. This comes from people who are truly in the know.
The old tired negative narrative will have to change soon. Soon, the Detroit comeback will not just be shown in downtown and midtown. It will reflect the neighborhoods, too. Already in the process.
As for Fox, them selling its RSNs have nothing to do with Detroit. It’s the Disney deal.
Fox hasn’t sold WJBK, because again, Detroit is an NFC market. This is why Fox bought KTVU, and why it’s after the Seattle affiliate.
And get some updated info.
Three months ago Fox said they're not interested in Seattle but, would rather get better affiliation deals now.
