There are many who are great people my Wife is from Windsor, So for you to say in your statement that you will dab some shoe polish on your forehead to be like us Catholic phonies is just Stupid Talk.

Re: Lent
I’m Black just so you know. And am not a racist. Not 100 percent Black but here’s the family tree LL 101, My Father was Irish, My Mother was African-American hence the fact that we were and still are a Catholic Family, So why would I be a racist. So there you go, You never know what comes out of your mouth LL101. And that’s why I said I was not offended by the earlier remark.
Re: Lent
That's me too. Whenever I do enter a church, I half expert lightning to strike the spire.
I'm betting that you don't, one day a year, go around with a smudge of dirt on your forehead as a badge of piety.
With today's technology it should be possible to develop and mass produce halos. There would be a market for them.
Re: Lent
I know too many "Christians" (of all religions) that spend an hour a week in church playing the devoted disciple of Jesus and then spend the other 167 hours being the shittiest, most hateful people around. That's not for me.
Hahahaaaaaa... I sure don't. AND I ate chicken for dinner too on this holiest of days.
Re: Lent
Although I do believe, I find organized religion to be "cult like" and I prefer not to be bound by a certain set of rules or direction set forth by the church. I don't observe things like Lent or Ash Wednesday. I don't even go to church...as another said, only for a wedding or funeral. Things are very ritualistic with the chanting, incense, and the funny looking hats & robes, seems creepy to me.

TT just needs to learn that God runs the biggest union.
Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

Blessed a year ago for Palm Sunday, and now dry (although still a Sacramental) palm fronds are burned - to create the ashes used to mark the foreheads of the faithful in an image of the cross on Ash Wednesday. No shoe polish. No dirt. No smudge.
Those who allow themselves to be so marked during an Ash Wednesday mass are showing whoever may see that they are weak sinners who desire to repent, or have repented - and believe the promises of Christ. Especially that they will have eternal life.
People who outwardly deem themselves pious often do not recognize how very sinful they are. And hypocrites usually think of themselves as “basically good people.” Also - the majority of humanity is better at pinpointing the faults of others while remaining blind to our own sins. A good example of all of this would be the various leadership hierarchies of the major world religions.
