Will Cohen Survive This Week?
Wednesday OPEN under oath House Oversight testimony.
Thursday CLOSED under oath House Intel testimony.
If Cohen lies he’s lost all hope of any favor coming his way. So he’s going to spill secrets that Trump, his kids, and Russia want kept secret. And that Mueller can corroborate.
Plus - The White House hierarchy is out of the country. As Trump FINALLY serves country in Vietnam. The question is: which country? His? Kim’s? Or Vlad’s?

Re: Will Cohen Survive This Week?
It all depends on if Cohen is able to provide corroborating evidence. If he has tapes/documents and the like Trump is in deep trouble, perhaps not from Congress or Mueller but I've read more than one opinion that the attorney's of the SDNY is who he needs to fear.
Meanwhile it appears GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz isn't above making an outright threat to Cohen in this tweet:
Hey @MichaelCohen212 - Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends? Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She’s about to learn a lot...
Make no mistake or excuse that is a threat, no less than if anyone of us here on this forum chose to out anyone else around here. Despicable and a fair case could be made for witness tampering.
Can't wait for someone to defend it...

Don't expect Trump to go down quietly. Don Jr called the charges "fake charges" yesterday. I hope he enjoys "fake prison".

Re: Will Cohen Survive This Week?
Not being a particularly religious person, I wonder if someone else can help me out with this. It seems the entirely of the GOP committee member's argument in the hearing against Cohen is because he lied previously he can never be trusted to tell the truth again. How does that reconcile with Christian precepts about confession of sins, absolution and repentance ? Is it because this is a secular hearing?
I just can't get out of my mind's eye that if this hearing were held six weeks from now and some committee members had a smudge of ash on their forehead it would be monumentally disingenuous if not blasphemous to hold the belief that a soul that transgressed would be incapable of repenting.
Again, I don't know and would be curious how this is reconciled?

Love this public hearing.
The most exercised group - in volume and tone of voice, rapidity of speech, not allowing Cohen to fully answer, and utter disinterest in asking anything about Trump’s unprecedented and shocking words and deeds - are the Republican members of this oversight committee.
They don’t realize that they are actually engendering sympathy for Cohen.
He comes off as sincere in his responses and answers. The republican inquisitors come off as holier-than-thou goons out to rough up a remorseful, flawed, frightened man. And they’re doing so to gain Trump’s favor - and/or help themselves win their next elections.
Cohen Is tearful, courageous, and damn cool under fire. They are hysterical hacks - riding high horses - trying to protect their ring leader - the most fantastical liar ever to grace the oval office.

Re: Will Cohen Survive This Week?
I suppose that's a reasonable question, but it's not central to the singular and exclusive point the GOP seems to have entered the hearing advocating: Cohen lied once therefore he is never to be trusted again.Turkeytop wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 1:27 pmHas the President they so idolize never told a lie?Lester The Nightfly wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 12:31 pmNot being a particularly religious person, I wonder if someone else can help me out with this. Period. No forgiveness, no room for possibility of repentance. To allow otherwise would crash the entire construct of the moral imperative they appear to be operating under. To say one doesn't have anything to do with the other is a failure of both.
So again I ask from a position of not knowing, how does a person of faith make congruent these inconsistencies? Is "It's just politics" enough considering the stakes? If so, what else would that person be willing to compromise their apparent deeply held religious moral bedrock on?

Trump could be in trouble with SDNY.
For Repubs who don't want to believe me, they should read up on Judge Napolitano's remarks on Neil Cavuto's program this afternoon.
An earlier remark is on point - the true test will be the extent to which Cohen's accusations can be corroborated.
I wholly believe the President is a tax cheat and likely also engaged in money laundering to subvert federal election law.

I was impressed that AOC took quick, clean shots to get at that exact place. Tlaib, not so much...MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 4:54 pmTrump could be in trouble with SDNY.

[EDIT: BTW - If anyone wants to see what integrity of leadership looks like, take a look at Chairman Cummings final remarks. My eyes were as misty as Cohen's. I'm out.]

Re: Will Cohen Survive This Week?
Pretty clear to me after Cohen’s hearing that Trump and his family’s criminal organization will eventually be hit with a RICO charge. SDNY will fashion Trump’s invitation to prison. And he’ll end up in the cell next to Bernie Madeoff.
And at the opposite end of the morality saga we have Chairman Cummings. And I hope everyone within the sound of his voice will take to heart his parting words: If we’re not careful we can lose our democracy.
Of course - Cohen’s stated fear - that should Trump lose 2020 there will NOT be a peaceful transition of power - is an example of how tenuous our governmental norms have become.

AOC is smart and a star. Don’t let her first congressional year define her bright future. All of the freshwomen will make rookie mistakes. And then those with staying power will gain their footing - and climb higher.

Re: Will Cohen Survive This Week?
Trump has had lawyers and accountants handling his business for decades. My prediction is that all of what Trump did will be found to be just inside the boundaries of the law. But on the other side of those boundaries, the Rats won't adhere to any law. The fact that they are willing to go to a corrupt Communist state to try to get him shows just how out of control and bat crap crazy they are. They aren't winning the neighborhood baseball game, so instead of taking their bat and going home, they try to beat Trump up with the bat. How unsportsmanlike.

I don't think there was any implication that AOC was running for President anytime soon, but I understand the entire Trump shit show doesn't work unless there's a boogyman to rail against so who am I to spoil your narrative...TC Shuts Up wrote: ↑Thu Feb 28, 2019 6:22 amAWayWorseThanOCD is a bloviating, brainwashed, Communist nut.
