Voting on Trade Agreements

Unread post by Circle Seven »

Ok so I'm pretty sure the EU was a trade agreement. The people of Jolly Old England went to the polls and got out. So my question is, can the good ol' USA do the same? Put a NAFTA exit up to a vote? Vote to end foreign aid? Put the UN out? These are just examples of course. But I'm sure there are many agreements and pacts our not so fearless leaders have made with other countries that a majority of Americans don't agree with.

We don't have a system that works like that... The people don't directly vote because the founders knew there were too many rubes in the general population to make it safe or wise to do so.

Yes, because the general public has proved they are knowledgeable enough to render an opinion on any of those subjects. :rolleyes

All of a sudden you're a fan of the founders? :8)
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

99.9% of the time yes... There are times I disagree and that should be ok...
