104.1 WSAG Linwood went all Christmas today.
Re: Christmas music 2020
Wow, they really jumped the gun. IMO, not a very creative program schedule. Sounds like lazy PD's to me.
Re: Christmas music 2020
I guess one Mac- Mac FM 106.3 had to get out ahead of the other Mac- WSAG 104.1 and the third Mac- WSRT (or whatever it becomes) 106.7. Yes, I know Mac 106.3 refers to the Bridge, not the related owners of the other two stations. Or will it be WLXT 96.3?

Re: Christmas music 2020
I hate it. I guess I'm not the target audience. When I have to travel around Northern Michigan, I usually end up listening to MAC FM 106.3, primarily because it is the only station I've found that has as clear of a signal in St. Ignace as it does in Petoskey, and plays a reasonably decent mix of songs, although I would really enjoy it more if it were a bit more upbeat and integrated some "less soft" rock into their mix. But, with 106.3 now worthless for 2 months, what station do you all recommend I listen to?

That's a toughie... 99.9 in Rogers City or 93.9 (Oldies 93) from Newberry/Sault if you're in the Straits area? Maybe 98.5 UPS or 107.5 WCCW if you can deal with some static?
I'll be in a similar predicament in a few weeks as I plan on visiting family in the Gaylord area and Mac has quickly become one of my favorite stations (although in my case it's because of the soft rock). Assuming 96.3 will have also switched by then, I anticipate spending a lot of time with WIAA, CMU, WHAK-FM and WCCW-FM.
WSAG/WSAM's sister station Easy 93.3 (1180 WXLA) in Lansing also flipped sometime this past week. And Star 105.7 and 100.5 The River in Grand Rapids both switched today.

101.5 the River and WNIC are both all Christmas today as well. And K-Love Classics is now K-Love Christmas.
Re: Christmas music 2020
WWMK is running sort of a 'deep cuts' Christmas music thing....not the usual WNIC-like 22 songs.
That said, it's a tune-out for me. I *like* Christmas music from about 2nd week of December on.
WWMK ran 24/7 all year long in my barn, just to provide some background when I'm in there....but no more.

The box that many broadcasters won’t look outside of was made in 1969 and hasn’t changed significantly since.

I like the 60s and 70s music on WCHY 97.7. We have Sirius XM in the car, and a bunch of memory banks and when we're up, we had 106.3 on two or three memories for convenience with proximity to other banks without going through them all. I took one off and replaced it with 97.7. We have 106.3 and 97.7 on a lot because Sirius XM (and the phone) cuts out a lot in the trees, valleys, and such.
So far, I haven't heard "Grandma...Reindeer" on Mac FM, and I'm happy about that.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

Almost forgot about 97.7. I could do without the right-wing-extremist morning talk show, but the music (from Westwood One's Good Time Oldies feed) is great. I believe WKLA in Ludington and WLEC in Sandusky OH carry the same music format.CK-722 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 9:59 am I like the 60s and 70s music on WCHY 97.7. Interestingly I seem to recall that both 97.7 and 106.3 stunted with Christmas music when they first signed on.

Re: Christmas music 2020
The few people that have mentioned in my conversations Mac 106.3's decision to go all Christmas on November 1 have ALL been negative. It was especially odd last weekend when most of the area was blanketed in temps in the mid to upper 70's.

Re: Christmas music 2020
When I worked at Walgreens in Cheboygan years ago, corporate had the music programmed for Christmas starting Nov 1, 7 am-7 pm. Then it would switch to a sort of soft-ac/classic rock format at 7 pm-7 am. I and about 30 employees from various store in Northern MI BEGGED the district manager to switch the day-programming back to soft-ac. Came to the agreement of allowing Christmas 24/7 after Thanksgiving.
