Sinclair getting into show creation
Sinclair getting into show creation
If you wonder where Sinclair is spending its billions in profits while it cuts local newsrooms like Flint… well it now wants to get into the syndication game.

While Sinclair and other broadcasters have cut syndication costs from its budgets, it thinks it can do a better job than the other production companies. Not that any of these groups have an original idea that can draw any audiences… but Sinclair’s track record for content development speaks for its lackluster self.
Sinclair continues to piss away money.

Can't be any worse than Daily Blast Live that TEGNA has which is a bad show and The List from Scripps surprised that lasted for a decade that show sucked Fox17 put it on in the afternoons until it got canceled over the summer wasn't until winter of 2021 weekend only when The List was cleared. I haven't seen Gray's Investigate TV show as it isn't cleared in West Michigan I have seen some reviews of the show in online forums some like the show some don't a mix bag.
Sinclair syndication will be on the new ARC that will be formerly known as CW7 come Jan, 1, 2024 I don't like the new name at all ARC West Michigan, Which Sinclair could've aired The Jerry Springer Show at 2PM along with Steve Wilkos at 3PM in the fall and put the court shows from 11AM to 2PM I don't get why they waited until the new year. The National Desk will get 8PM to 8:30PM, Daytime Jeopardy at 8:30PM to 9PM, The Kelly Clarkson Show 9PM to 10PM.
The new CW will be airing a lot of repeats from WOTV, Wood TV, & WXSP, Extra does return to early access prime at 7PM to 7:30PM been a decade since it has been in early access prime, TMZ 7:30PM to 8PM and will air 3X as WXSP airs at 10:30PM to 11PM, Wood TV 1:30AM to 2AM, TMZ Live also will air 3X Wood TV 3PM to 4PM, WXSP 3AM to 4AM, The CW 4AM to 5AM TU-FRI as Mon will be the Fri edition. Who The Bleep Is That yes it's a name of a game show largely on in the big markets on the new CW, Chi Fire & PD combo 11:30PM to 1:30AM etc.

Re: Sinclair getting into show creation
Master: those are pretty awful shows. But don’t underestimate the power of Sinclair to suuuuuck!
Re: Sinclair getting into show creation
Scripps tried to force feed its stations with bad syndications and it failed miserably. The odd thing is that they could produce quality shows for HGTV and Food Network but after selling those properties they couldn't do it anymore.

Scripps thought they had a great idea with "The List."
That show survived for much longer than it deserved.

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.
Re: Sinclair getting into show creation
Failure is dependent on what their goals were. They were attempting to fill time for less money than it would cost to buy a syndicated show. In that, they were successful! They don’t care about quality, because no one is watching anyway. All that matters is that it’s cheaper.
Re: Sinclair getting into show creation
Advertisers won't pay for hash marks, so they dumped the List and paid a few sheckles for Extra and Mario Lopez.
Re: Sinclair getting into show creation
Exactly! Like I said, no one is watching anyway. So if no one is watching, and no advertisers are buying time, might as well put the cheapest product possible in these spots. If the math equation of revenue - cost equals a positive number, they were successful.
I haven’t seen the numbers, but I bet Access Hollywood isn’t really killing it in the ratings.
Re: Sinclair getting into show creation
It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. If you put on crap, you will drive viewers elsewhere.
If broadcasters want to grow viewership, they have to start investing in good programming. If they want to save a few pennies by putting on cheap programming, there won’t be a future audience for them. It’s really not that hard of an equation to figure out. You just have idiot beancounters that are driving these decisions… and driving themselves right out of jobs.

Byron Allen only bought TV stations so he has somewhere to play his horrible shows like "Funny You Should Ask", along with seven different judge shows, most of which are hosted by minorities & females.

No one was watching because the program stunk. The List would still be on the air if it were "successful."Herm wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 8:12 amFailure is dependent on what their goals were. It was never meant to be successful in the form of ratings. It was meant to be successful in the form of costs.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 7:30 amNo one was watching because the program stunk. Re: Sinclair getting into show creation
It apparently wasn’t even successful in those terms since they cancelled the show. Add that to LIST of ways to get cancelled.
Re: Sinclair getting into show creation
News Feed also sucked from Scripps I don't know if that is still airing in some of their markets I know Fox17 aired for a year at 7PM then a year later dumped it at 4:30AM for a few months before they finally brought back 4:30AM newscast. Fox17 put Friends back in access prime at 7PM before they went for a failed pay for play show that ended in the summer after a year on the air for Scripps News at 7PM.
