Shiawassee County Tornado Coverage 8-11-23

So who's doing what? No live streams on WNEM or WJRT. WEYI is doing some, but the guy doing the reporting keeps taking really long pauses. People over on WNEM's Facebook is ripping WNEM a new one about interrupting the Lions game. How is the on-air coverage?

Chris is doing a decent job on 5, but he isn't alone. Erik doesn't have the greatest delivery, and could really use help.

I don't know why they aren't doing any Facebook Live or online streaming coverage on their apps or websites.

Perry is not even in their viewing area, still they covered it.

Yep, exactly. Like I said, I know know what they were doing on-air, but online coverage was zip. Not sure why they didn't even simulcast on-air coverage online.

I think 6's owners run the news on a 2 hour delay, so there probably wasn't anything live from them. There were some heated voicemails left on the TV 5 switchboard, including one with the threat of breaking in to the station.

Nexstar Corp delays the online newscast.
The stations are live to air.

People are idiots who berate meteorologists for providing life saving information… especially those who go on profanity-laced tirades from their work accounts.

I know NextStar has the delay, but why not have streaming live severe storm coverage or a Facebook live? It wouldn't make no sense airing severe weather coverage on a delay.

Yes, this may come as a surprise to some people, but there are some things in life more important than sports.

I'd understand if West Michigan had a tornado warning on Fri missing a few minutes of the Lions game until the warning had passed/expired not that big of a deal to me got to tell those in the warning area where the tornado is headed. I remember when Wood TV in the early 2000s to the late 2000s said that their coverage of severe weather had more viewers than Friends or ER why they report on the severe storms coverage at the time. I guess why they stopped was that viewers tune out after a while.

I don't like when viewers complain when the shows aren't airing when nasty storms are coming like when the weather mets call said viewers on it on their social media pages.
Go Pistons, Let's Go Redwings.
