Where’s the follow up???

Unread post by sinklair »

Four years ago, then Republican nominee for President Donald Trump came to Flint after the invitation of WEYI owner Armstrong Williams and gave an exclusive interview to Dave Bondy.

After promising to fix the water crisis, clean up blighted neighborhoods, create jobs, improve student test scores in Flint and other urban (Black) areas, what’s been accomplished? Why hasn’t the In Over Her Head News Director had Dave or others do a story that looks at how now President Trump’s policies have or more likely have not reached those goals.

It’ll be interesting to see if the new GM does anything to right the sinking ship that is 25-66/Mid-Michigan NOW’s pathetic attempt at local government accountability journalism. (Insert laugh track here.)

No one forced Trump to make promises to improve Flint. Those were his words. Now it’s fair for 25-66 — who gave him the platform — to fact check if the President has lived up to his promises. Show what has and hasn’t been done.

The businessman president should be doing an audit and make sure the money dedicated to fix the Flint water crisis is going to the right efforts. And 25-66, 5, 12, MLive and others should be following the money. Promises made. Promises broken.

Obama hasn’t been President for the past four years. President Trump has been.

Same for Gov. Whitmer who — along with AG Dana Nessel — made promises to the residents of Flint about fixing the ongoing problems and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

Real “Journalists” have a responsibility to go back and hold politicians (of both parties) accountable for the promises they made and the subsequent actions/priorities they followed through with (or didn’t).

25-66’s In Over Her Head News Director has made a decision not to follow through with this type of coverage. Many believe it’s because she doesn’t want to ruffle feathers with WEYI owner Armstrong Williams, who remains involved with the Trump campaign and business manager of HUD Secretary Ben Carson, and her corporate overlords conservative broadcaster Sinclair Broadcasting. In other words, she’s rolling over and not doing her job as an independent journalist because of politics.

Flint victims get $600 Million for a settlement surprised it wasn't a billion dollars that the state had to pay. The people of Flint need to vote everyone out and give the GOP a shot as the Dems in Flint have done nothing and a crime rate that is very high.

Flint city council along with the state of Michigan are ones that failed the city of Flint along with the DEQ didn't tell the truth and put out fake data to everyone. I'm angry that no one will go to jail for the Flint water crisis I can't blame anyone for not trusting if the water is safe to drink as the damage is done.

MasterB: Agree with everything except one point. The Democrat controlled Flint City Council had no power at the time of the water crisis — as they were under a state-appointed Emergency Manager (hand picked by Gov. Snyder). Yes, the Council was to blame for years of not balancing budgets which lead to the loss of local control... however, the Council was vocal against the switch to Flint river water that caused the water crisis.

Current Democrat AG Dana Nessel dismissed charges against state officials in one of the most confusing decisions ever. She says she’s still investigating. She says charges may be reissued. How she has handled this case makes zero sense. There’s been zero accountability.
