National Desk PM

Unread post by sinklair »

Sinclair is ramping up for the launch of its new late evening national newscast by naming its new anchor team…

https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/ ... ptember-27

Once again, the Corporate Death Star is taking an approach that is proven not to work, but insists on putting its head in the sand and ignore the impact it’s having of 25-66 and it’s other local stations.

Themorning edition of The National Desk has been a failure. It has no audience. It competes against our local newscasts. It’s spews Sinclair’s corporate propaganda (AKA our national must runs).

https://www.mediamatters.org/sinclair-b ... heorist-it

https://www.mediamatters.org/sinclair-b ... g-children

https://www.mediamatters.org/sinclair-b ... g-local-tv

https://www.mediamatters.org/sinclair-b ... age-attack

The production values suck. The anchor team has zero credibility.

So instead of addressing those concerns, Sinclair instead says let’s duplicate those efforts and compete against our local stations’ late newscasts.

I’ll say it again… I work for complete idiots.

Running this show from 10pm to midnight opposite their network mandated local newscasts at either 10pm or 11pm? 😳

Brilliant, just brilliant 🙄🙄🙄

Their local newscast amounts to about 2% local and the rest national from pathfire, and you are just another face reading a prompter!

I wonder who will air it for 2 hours I don't see CW7 doing 2 hours maybe just 30 minutes 10:30PM since they air a 10PM newscast from their sister station WWMT. Ellen is kicking National Desk in the ratings why doesn't Sinclair give out the ratings for The National Desk? Fox17 has Newsfeed and they finally took it out of 7PM and put Friends at 7PM a couple of weeks ago and put Newsfeed in the graveyard at 4:30AM where they started the morning news now it is a half-hour later at 5AM to 9AM.

Sinclair is ramping up its evening version of the National Desk. It’s main anchor is coming from Denver.

https://www.denverpost.com/2021/07/29/f ... Foundation

The man behind the show is Mike Garber, one of the biggest POS in Sinclair. He essentially was recently run out of KUTV, Sinclair’s low-rated station in Salt Lake City for creating a hostile work environment.

Garber also has a “type” of anchor, as evidenced by KUTV’s talent page.

Will the anchor of these shows be keeping it real?

BTS: they most definitely won’t be keeping it real. Expect more one-sided journalism coming from Livingston, Garber and company.

I was wrong I thought that The National Desk PM would only be 30 minutes CW7 will air 90 minutes I think 30 minutes was enough just my opinion. Daytime Jeopardy moves to 5PM, Family Guy & Bob's Burger was just a stop-gap when Millionaire went off the air about a month ago.

It’s not a surprise that national news expansion by the Corporate Death Star are more about the almighty dollar than
Journalism.

Who wants to bet that despite increased ad revenue, the local journalists providing the National Desk much of its daily content won’t see any of this increased revenue in the form of pay raises? It’s why many of my colleagues and I refuse to contribute any time to helping support the National Desk.

No news from Flint for The National Desk does management tell you that you have to support The National Desk with reports. Even if you and a lot refuse to do it? I'd only do it if I was paid extra otherwise I wouldn't do it.

It’s clear that Sinclair just doesn’t care about local news…

https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2021/ ... -beginning

From the failed NewsCentral format of the early 2000s to the new morning and evening National Desk newscasts, it’s clear Sinclair recovering sex addict/board chairman David Smith and corporate Death Star CEO Chris the Ripper see themselves as a low budget OAN or NewsMax and would like to force all their stations to air The National Desk newscasts on local station… only to further cut local news staffs.

With our lack of ratings and revenue, how quick do you think the new Sinclair appointed GM here on Pierson Road would cave to corporate mandates? What’s less than a nano-second?

The posts your own main anchor makes on social media make it clear he doesn’t care much about local news either. His political allegiance doesn’t seem hidden or he’s making posts that make the big bosses proud and are tailored to a certain side of the aisle.

I'm guessing this is in reference to WEYI &WSMH anchor, Dave Bondy. Yes, what was a once promising fresh breath of air, has become a Sinclair corporate shill. I am guessing he was asked to adapt the narrative as his spin recently has been full of the same Sinclair propaganda being pushed through. Take a look at his social media within the last year, and it completely changed.

NewsNation — the national newscast from Nexstar — is touting that it is the fastest growing national newscast.

I’m waiting for Sinclair’s promo for The National Desk… “biased news, little watched, competing against our local newscasts.”

Let’s give the Corporate Death Star its due… they will take their failed National Desk experiment and double down on it.

TND now has a brand spankin’ “new” website…

https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/ ... alDesk.com

The brainchilds of the National Desk claim what makes it different is the content that they get from its local stations.

Could someone please tell Sinclair SVP if “News” Scotty Livingston about Nexstar’s News Nation or Gray’s Local News Live. We are sooo not innovators in this space and put on such an inferior quality broadcast.

And what does the world need right now? Another lame national news website that directly competes with traffic to our local websites. Good move, Sinclair.
