Saw the Eagles in Las Vegas back in 2014, they referenced the “Best of My Love” success the link talks about, but didn’t mention him specifically. Pretty cool he was running a station out of his home studio as well. RIP.

Tuned in WAKV a few times when traveling south of GR to hear him, a real solid talent who loved the business and found a way to continue it on his terms. "Qixy" had the attention of other stations in the region after he got things rolling in Otsego in the mid 80s. Rest in Peace.

WAKV during its Adult Standards / Big Band era was a cool little station! He had a great voice, too.

Jim was a great talent.

He was also part owner of the original WBNZ Frankfort "99-3 BNZ" for a time, under Forum Communications, with Marc Rosseels (McGuire) and one other Kalamazoo radio guy, who's name escapes me at the moment. I believe Jim recorded a lot of the liners, I.D's and sweepers used on WBNZ. Eventually, Marc bought out his two partners and went solo with 'BNZ. The 3 partners worked together at WKMI.

That's Colonel Flagg's radio history lesson for today. :smokin

Are you thinking of Bob Brink? He still owns QXC and ZUU.

Listened as a kid to Jim H. on 'KMI growing up in Kalamazoo.... with the likes of Bill Anthony, Bill Martin.. even Dave Thompson..... a station that always sounded bigger than its rather humble building on 1360 Melody Lane........
