Been 2 years since ESPN 96.1 fired Costa replacing Big Drew and Jim with ESPN programming.
Costa went home to Detroit, landed with The Ticket doing fill-in. He’s been named the co-host of Costa and Jansen along with former NFL and U of M lineman Jon Jansen.
Good for Costa.

" “Costa & Jansen” will be heard weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET beginning in February 2024, following the conclusion of the Lions season."OneBigFan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 1:18 pm Been 2 years since ESPN 96.1 fired Costa replacing Big Drew and Jim with ESPN programming.

Technically the Lions season is over by October 1, anyway.

So where is Jim's former on-the-air partner Drew McCarthy from their old 96.1 morning show GR days?

Correct on Drew. He is currently the GM of Boco in Middleville.MWmetalhead wrote:Good. He was obnoxious. Costa carried that show.
Isn't Drew (or Droo) in the Cannabis business these days? I recall seeing a news report along those lines.

I always felt Drew was the 'show' part of that dynamic. All respect to Costa, but Drew pulled him out of Sports Nerd into an entertainer. Maybe it was all the time he spent on WSNX with Holmes that helped him know where to lead things.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 4:46 pm Good. He was obnoxious. Costa carried that show.

I was never a fan of the Detroit washouts on 96.1, Henson was just a shell of himself and Baligian literally sounded like a disinterested man in his basement.
I think they're both incredibly talented and still can't believe iHeart couldn't sell the show, especially since they beat H*** consistently across demos. Another casualty of poor conversion due to weak sales/management.
