Stupidity In Latest Executive Order

Re: Stupidity In Latest Executive Order
Contracting coronavirus can be 100% avoided if you self-isolate, just like car accidents can be 100% avoided if you stay out of a car. Moreover, some people can not practically self-isolate any more than some people can not practically avoid riding in or driving a car.Rate This wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:19 pmThat’s a bit of a stretch... they rode in a car, got in an accident and died. That’s one thing. An obvious risk.
I didn’t work out enough and had asthma and got coronavirus and died seems far less obvious. It isn’t the same kind of choice. One is pretty direct and the other one you have to make a couple of extensions to complete the circuit. It’s just not quite the same thing.
So the analogy seems pretty similar to me.

So that is a tacit acknowledgement that the idea of bending the Infection curve by isolating is rather sound is it not?bmw wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:27 pmContracting coronavirus can be 100% avoided if you self-isolate, just like car accidents can be 100% avoided if you stay out of a car. Maybe. The issue is that individuals should have freedom to make their own choices in an alleged free country.Rate This wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:32 pmSo that is a tacit acknowledgement that the idea of bending the Infection curve by isolating is rather sound is it not?bmw wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:27 pmContracting coronavirus can be 100% avoided if you self-isolate, just like car accidents can be 100% avoided if you stay out of a car. I don't know why people continue to struggle to differentiate between actual isolation and government rules requiring isolation.
In theory, if every single person living on this entire planet agreed to truly shelter-in-place and literally not leave their property, this virus would be 100% eradicated in something like 2-3 weeks. But obviously nothing remotely close to eradication is happening - hence, demonstrating the limits of what government can do.

Nobody said it would 100% stop it... but it is slowing it. Understand too that this isn’t the country’s first rodeo with these kinds of restrictions...bmw wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 12:01 amI don't know why people continue to struggle to differentiate between actual isolation and government rules requiring isolation.

Are you inferring that the person that gets broadsided by a drunk at a intersection did so by choice?
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Did I pass?
Influenza kills 0.000142 percent of the population of the State of Michigan each year. Now granted that's a year vs. three weeks, but over time our bodies have built natural antibodies to the various strains of influenza or the death toll there would be much higher too.
Oh, and by the way. I think it makes perfect sense to wear a seat-belt. I do so religiously. I just don't think it's the governments right to force me to do so at the behest of the insurance industry.

That's NEVER going to happen.

Re: Stupidity In Latest Executive Order
We aren't done folks, deaths jumped 204 today. And fact our deaths are so low means stay in place is working.

I have a feeling that the people dying today were infected weeks ago.

We measure the Flu over 12 months, we have been in this for 4 weeks. Not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

Maybe I have to spell it out for you. Flue and pneumonia deaths miraculously dropped to just about zero this year, when all other years they gradually dropped down as the season ended. This year all those deaths are attributed to Covid-19, whether that was really the cause or not.
