“Shop local!”
“Support small business!”
No.
I’ll spend my money wherever I want.
There’s a reason why small businesses are struggling to compete with online shopping and foreign competition. They don’t innovate! Their prices are too high!
If I got better service for the best price at a local, small business, I’d support them all day and twice on Sunday. But I refuse to pay more, accept inferior customer service, and get less value just because someone owns a business near me.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through June 3 at 5:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Good points.Mike Oxlong wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2019 1:37 amThere's a little noticed reason why many small businesses fail.
Back in the day when Grandma and Grandpa started Corner Market or Family Hardware, there was Mom, Pop, and a kid or two after school and on the weekends working there.
Three generations later, Mom, Pop, the kids, the kids spouses, and any grandkids over the age of 15, are all on the payroll.
In the same size store as what Grandma and Grandpa started 50 years ago.
Think about it.
How many times you go into a "mom and pop, been around as long as you can remember" shop, and someone's only job is to stay at the register, even if no one is checking out?
And yet, people shame others for going to “big box” stores that have continued to innovate, provide competitive pricing, and generate jobs and a tax base for whole communities.

I love it how pyramid schemers were using “small business Saturday” to turn up the heat on buying their crap.

Yes, nothing wrong with free speech. However, I’m allowed to say how stupid the idea is. That’s my free speech. I will not try to silence anyone.audiophile wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 9:50 amIsn't this also free speech? Small Business Saturday is voluntary.
YM makes a good point, if you rent a building you are in trouble.
Feel free to ridicule me, bully me, use racial and homophobic slurs, and anything else you’d like to express. That’s free speech too!
