Re: Being pro-police
Thanks for proving my point, WhatIsNews.
The fact is, the stories you posted are anecdotal, not the ones I did.
The first story you posted involved a police officer not following the law. That's a "good cop" to you? What about equality under the law? How should prosecuted shoplifters feel about this? Someone was shoplifting, and what did the officer do? Let him go. Now, anyone that shoplifts there could go back after the police and say they were discriminated against if there are charges against them because the police did not follow the law consistently. Why are we celebrating people being treated unfairly and unequally under the law? What is the store owner supposed to do? The police officer ignored the crime (shoplifting). Having a badge does not make someone above the law, nor does it allow them to determine what is a crime and what is not. They can not prefer one person over another and charge one person of a crime and let another person go free if they committed the same crime. Apparently, you think that injustice under the law is just fine.
As far as your comment about "playing this game;" this is not a game to me. This is serious. We have police violating peoples' right. Ever hear of civil asset forfeiture? Police take your personal property despite never charging you with a crime. I would defend your right to keep your things if you are not a criminal, but unfortunately police and prosecutors won't https://www.aclu.org/issues/criminal-la ... ture-abuse
You've also missed the original post of this story. Journalists should be fair. Journalists should not have a conflict of interest. Journalists should not do positive stories and avoid negative stories just because they have friends, relatives, or other relationships with police. Bill Harris has done this. Look at his bio page. It's filled with these stories:

Bill says his best friend is with the Michigan State Police. There's no problem with that. His wife was a police dispatcher. Again, no problem with that. However, he produces stories that are independent, exclusive, and positive toward police.
He doesn't produce any stories that are critical of police. Not once. Find me one story that Bill has produced in his decades-long career that is independent, exclusive, and critical of police and I will stop posting on this forum forever.

Re: Being pro-police
Nothing to see here, just one of Texas' finest pulling a black woman out of her car for not putting out her cigarette, telling her "good" when she said she had epilepsy, and now she's dead.

Re: Being pro-police
This officer is disgusting and should be prosecuted to the highest extent of the law, which he doesn't respect.
He asks her a question. She is under no obligation to answer it, but she answers voluntarily. He then asks in a condescending way, "Are you done?"
He then asks her to put out her cigarette around 9:23 in the YouTube video, which she is under no obligation to do. People are allowed to smoke in their own personal vehicle.
Because she doesn't put out her cigarette, this monster orders her out of her car and unlawfully opens her door. He has no right to enter her vehicle or drag her out. She has committed no crime, is under no suspicion of committing a crime and this monster has no warrant to search her or her vehicle.
He tells her that if she doesn't get out of her car, "I'll light you up!" Does that mean taser her or shoot her? Who knows, but it's not good. If he feels that he needs to threaten someone to get compliance, he's a disturbed individual.
It must make this officer feel like a big man to pull innocent people out of their vehicles for refusing to put out their cigarette at his request. This officer works for this woman, not the other way around.
Now, this woman is dead. She was arrested and jailed for absolutely no reason. No crime was committed. Bad things happened because this officer got his feelings hurt when someone didn't do what he wanted them to do (put out a cigarette).
Taxpayers fund this monster's salary. When the family sues and gets a multimillion dollar settlement, it'll be on the taxpayers' back too. Once again, police do whatever they want and there are no consequences for their poor choices. Protecting and serving indeed.

Here's a great local angle to this story, have Bill Harris call up one of his police buddies and try to justify the actions of this monster who violated this woman's rights and later find her deceased in jail.

Re: Being pro-police
Punching someone who is handcuffed is an act of cowardice. They do it twice.
Slamming him to the ground, knee in the back, slamming him on a police car all while handcuffed.
Most people would see this as torture, other see it as "protecting and serving."

Slamming a handcuffed man into a refridgerator face first, busting him open. Dragging him out of a car face first and dumping him on the ground. Strapping the man to a chair and working him over. Beating him down in a jail cell.
This is not anecdotal. Ebola is anecdotal. This is a crisis. And the victims aren't statistics. They're human beings whose lives are being ruined and sometimes ended by the out of control monsters.

Re: Being pro-police
I'm so glad this story came to light.
While I support this officer's right to express his opinions without fear of being fired, this also reveals what this officer thinks of certain people. I wonder how many other police officers harbor these feelings to other human beings and think of them and treat them as "maggots."

How is Bill Harris going to react to this? He has to be supportive of the police department and police officers.

Cop cries on social media about not being served. It's a shame Olive Garden caved.

I'm so sad to hear about this incident but so glad this is getting the attention it deserves.

A cop, with his panties up in a bunch, is offended when a teen flashes his lights at him, drags him out of his car, and shoots him seven times, killing him.

Re: Being pro-police
I would have more respect for police if the good ones publicly condemned actions like these of cops who kill black people in the middle of the street. They shot him 16 times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix2N6_jLAgA
