Anyone who truly "lives and breathes Alternative music" isn't listening to, or interested in working at, 98.7, I can guarantee.

Pay? Ahahahahahaha! I like you, dude. You're funny!
I was telling a co-worker the other day that the pay doesn't matter; you could pay me 60K a year with full benefits and I still wouldn't take it. There's no security. In a couple of years, we'll be sitting here typing "I can't believe 98.7 changed to __________ today! I'm not surprised, they never made it over a 2 share".
That's funny, though. "Pay". I gotta remember that one.

A couple years? That's generous given how crappy the music has gotten lately.Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 6:34 pmPay? Ahahahahahaha! I like you, dude. You're funny!

They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

I'll let them know when we get an actual Alternative station
Music is my life.
Re: ALT 98.7 Now Hiring
These gigs are no longer being filled with your traditional air talent. They are being filled with candidates that have strong digital footprints that excel on all social media platforms. If you can’t explain acronyms like DM, FOMO, and what impressions and memes are you need not apply. Hitting posts and talking over fifteen second intro’s will no longer cut it. The job post doesn’t even mention how much on air experience is required!
For those just getting the memo, “traditional” radio is over. To survive you’ll either have to grow with it or grow without it.
As for the pay, their stock is trading at less than $2.50 a share. Nuff said.

Wish I woulda bought back in when it dipped to around $1.40 a few months ago. Darn.

Re: ALT 98.7 Now Hiring
What's it's an alternative to? Static? or the plethora of Religious programed stations? The format will likely fail, just as it did on 106.7 and just as The Edge did 2 decades ago. "The D" holds onto it's out of fashion dull "rock and roll music", like it's a family heirloom. I'm certain about you but if Billy Squire " the stroke" or Motley Crue's "Home sweet home" appear on the radio, I get giddy and jump around like I just won Mega Millions. No, I actually just turn on Ch 76 Symphony hall, I outgrew repetitive overhyped music long ago.

100 percent of Fault 98.7's air talent will consist of out-of-market voicetracking or syndication:

At least when the station fails - which it will - no additional job loss will occur!

Am I just nuts or does it always seem like they're going into their "2 minute commercial" thing?

Well, fair dues... I suppose it has to do with keeping people tuned in knowing another song is coming soon. You know what else keeps people tuned in?
GOOD PROGRAMMING!
It's not like they have competiti-- wait, scratch that. Any CHR flavored station is their competition.
I wish I was a pop or country fan. I'd be all set. Alas, I'm a male that was a kid in the 90s. Back to YouTube for me.

Not a expert in this field at all, but is this the first time that basically all day there is no local on site air talent?MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 4:55 pm100 percent of Fault 98.7's air talent will consist of out-of-market voicetracking or syndication:
