Media Coverage of Local Sports Protests
Media Coverage of Local Sports Protests
The local media seems to be 100 percent behind these protests by the Lions and Tigers. Then you read the comments section of newspaper articles—a reasonable sample of the paying customers for the media and sports—and you see almost 100 percent opposition to the protests.
For me, nothing before has shown so clearly how closely media and sports are intertwined in the entertainment industry. The content for the media, the free publicity for the sports, the buddy buddy tone in interviews, the self-righteous self-importance of both, the complete lack of concern for the paying customer of both.

All along the icy wastes, there are faces smiling in the gloom.

I agree with your observations.

Donald Trump… In your guts you know he’s nuts.
Re: Media Coverage of Local Sports Protests
I know a few former die-hard sports nuts that are losing interest in sports in general now. I myself no longer listening to 97.1. Nothing against the jocks on there. But if there's really not much going on in the sports world, why listen to sports radio? I'm sure the local media is realizing it too. And trying to do their part to keep interest up.Bobbert wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 11:12 pm The local media seems to be 100 percent behind these protests by the Lions and Tigers. I agree with the OP.
Once a year or so we would go to a game in each of the pro sports. Then they started insulting the flag. Now everything is race and police are too mean to criminals, and they are annoying Karens about it.
I will not be back.

Annoying Karens about people Black people dying? You do realize white nationalists like you are the Karens, right?
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

I may never watch sports again.
Re: Media Coverage of Local Sports Protests
None of those teams, players, or broadcasters really cared about all the black folks that died in Chicago last week or the week before. It's not about black people dying.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 7:17 pm Annoying Karens about people Black people dying? Can you name one change in police procedures that would have changed the Jacob Blake outcome?MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 9:30 pmIt’s about systemic racism.
