Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
"CBS Television Stations is introducing nightly 10 p.m. news at owned CW affiliates in Detroit, Atlanta and Tampa. None of the stations currently feature newscasts. Each of the three stations is hiring multimedia journalists to create news content. The newscasts will be produced at another CBS-owned station, which will add national news, sports and weather, then sent back to the station where it will air.
WKBD Detroit will debut 10 p.m. news Jan. 22. WUPA Atlanta and WTOG Tampa are expected to start 10 p.m. news in February. Unlike in Atlanta and Tampa, CBS has local weather talent in Detroit."

Anyone heard anything about local air-talent (anchors/reporters) being hired for the "CW 50 10pm News?"

There may not be a need for any local talent if you read the above content taken from the original article carefully. The whole show is produced at a fourth station somewhere and WKBD could forward any local news for the show to that fourth station that is producing the whole thing. Note also that it is "then sent back to the station where it will air."

Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
What are the odds that Emery King makes a comeback for this? Also, what are the odds we get Scott Lewis, Steve Wilson, ML Elrick and a team of real investigative reporters on the CW 50 news team? Zero or less than zero?
Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
WTOG also has news at one point. This will do squat... they can’t even use people from 62 except weather.
Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
From what is written:
Detroit will be produced out of KTVT 11/KTXH 20 Dallas Start date: January 22nd
Tampa will be produced out of WFOR 4 / WBFS 33 Miami Start Date : February
Atlanta will be produced out of WCBS 2/ WLNY 50/45 New York Start Date February
unlike the tampa and atlanta 10pm broadcast , Detroit weathercasts will be from Detroit
think of the early days of TV20 News at ten when it came from WPTA 21 WISE 33 Fort Wayne, Indiana
or the present WNWO TV NBC24NEWS..based out of WSBT TV 22 South Bend,Indiana

I’m with you on this one. 100%.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 12:29 pm I guarantee everyone this is being done solely to take advantage of election ad spending.
This effort will earn abysmal ratings.
As soon as we enter 2021, I suspect the newscasts will be canceled.
Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
I second that statement
Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
At least one locally-based multimedia journalist has been hired so far to create news or feature content. Current local talent will handle weather segments.non-anon bob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 12:45 pm Anyone heard anything about local air-talent (anchors/reporters) being hired for the "CW 50 10pm News?"
Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
On an entirely different [tho same topic] does this mean that TECHNICALLY we could see CBSNDetroit...CBSNAtlanta....CBSNTampa ??
Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
Last heard McCoy was at Univ of Nebraska-Lincoln, teaching journalism and doing documentary production.
Lane and Madaus are retired, not about to return.
Amyre was until recently one of the hosts of CW50 "Street Beat" public affairs show. Pretty sure at this stage she would not want to go back to the nightly grind.
Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News
Anyone have an idea why CBS would not also run the same newscast on 62?
