I'm not aware of any such recordings. The idea of a Cameron "historian," though, makes me wonder who will be the Robert Caro-like historian to tackle the sweeping tale of Ron's epic life. Like the Caro LBJ treatment, I'm imagining multiple volumes. The first would cover his earliest years & continue with his umpiring days, concluding with his early radio exposure on Norm Plumer's WWJ sports talk show. The next volume would take the reader to the WXYZ & Sports View Today years. The next volume would cover his many brokered radio shows & restaurants. The concluding volume would address his Buzzboard-fueled, late-life, renaissance.ShempLives wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 1:25 pmPer Wikipedia (Thank you Bobbert): "Cameron has also tried owning and managing radio stations. In June 1992, he bought a 1,000-watt radio station in Bradenton, FL (WJRB-AM), which was on the air for only five months before it went off the air and was put on the market for a new buyer.[28][29] He returned to Michigan in 1994 to buy a 3,000-watt radio station in Standish.[30] In 1997, he signed a three-year lease on radio station KMET in Banning, CA, but was back in Michigan in 1998.[31][32][33] In March 1999, he started work as general manager of KSBQ in Santa Maria, CA, but left the station about six months later to buy a minor league baseball team in Lafayette, Louisiana.[34][35]" Here'a question for fellow Cameron historians: Are there any recordings available of these stations during Ron's tenure?

Re: Ron Cameron
Bobbert's efforts to place Ron in Wikipedia deserve credit as the start of a historical review on the subject of Mr. Ronald "Ron" Cameron.
Re: Ron Cameron
Probably not. He didn't spend much time at any any of those places, and the likelihood of archived material can probably be measured by the availability of archived Detroit radio. But it might be worth an Internet search.ShempLives wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 1:25 pmPer Wikipedia (Thank you Bobbert): "Cameron has also tried owning and managing radio stations. In my Wikipedia research, one thing that jumped out was his stay at that Santa Maria station in 1999. That looked like a very good opportunity on the Central Coast of California. But he gave it up for that minor league baseball team. Here's something from the 3/20/99 edition of the Santa Maria Times:

I’ve enjoyed reading the history posted on this board today. You guys have done some good research. Too bad our host doesn’t put in that kind of effort to his show.

Re: Ron Cameron
Sunday morning preview for tonight’s show:
Will we hear the highs of victory from Ron only to be dashed by defeat with the “combero” news this week that he will be back next season
Ike blasett tonight as old producer Alex broke news. A review of his career?
With Chris illitch and Al availa playing it smart yesterday and and not speaking during the Lou Whitaker ceremony due to the boos they would have received-will Ron continue to discuss how he should reach out to Chris illitch as he was one of mike illitch’s idol
The letter game continues with caller Kurt I am guessing?
Will we hear from Ron on what a homer Matt shepherd is for cheering lou Whitaker yesterday
Sorry folks not much else I got-hopefully it kicks in more during college/pro football and the new show format
Feel feee to add your thought!

Will Mr P sneak in a buzzard reference?
Re: Ron Cameron
The heart-warming ceremony for Lou Whitaker could make for all kinds of interesting commentary. With Ron, we'll probably only hear his oft-repeated conversation with Sparky Anderson about how Whitaker didn't reach his potential.
Re: Ron Cameron
That pretty much started in the early 1990s when he felt he'd maxed out what he could do in Detroit. For about the next 10-15 years he was all over the place. Very restless individual.radiofan1974 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 6:47 pmKind of crazy how he has been all around the US for all kinds of sports jobs, ownership of stations and teamsBobbert wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 5:44 pmProbably not. Re: Ron Cameron
Jim leyland is in town this weekend, could this be the week he is on the air? Perhaps a in studio guest or will he be “busy”
Re: Ron Cameron
I’m beginning to wonder if, among his other duties, PR guy Ron Colangelo is tasked with the responsibility of running interference on behalf of Tigers family members trying to keep Ron at bay.radiofan1974 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 11:57 amJim leyland is in town this weekend, could this be the week he is on the air? Re: Ron Cameron
It's possible Ron will lose Ike Blessitt's number and it's three hours of the same five callers because Luke refuses to allow others on the air. Or, there's Denny.
Re: Ron Cameron
I think Jim Leyland is too smart to ever come on Ron's show. He knows that within 5 minutes, the interview will go sideways into an ego driven Ron biography. By the way, if Ike Blessett is the guest tonight, how long will it be before Ron calls him Ike Brown?
Re: Ron Cameron
Jim Leyland has been on the show a few times. Always exhibiting some frustration with Ron, but returning nonetheless. But those visits may have come to an end.
