Re: Ron Cameron
Here is a parody of "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" on the first anniversary of Ron's infamous departure from WDTK (https://mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/viewtopi ... 25#p738148).
Do You Know the Way to 'DTK?
Do you know the way to 'DTK?
I've been away so long
I used That Word, I must repent
Do you know the way to 'DTK?
I'm going back to beg for my old show on 'DTK
Detroit has a lot of stations
And I've worked at almost all of them
In a week, maybe two, I might sell some ads
Weeks turn into months, and then I leave
And stations where I used to work
Start hearing from me once again
I had toll free calls at 'DTK
Gave access to Cowboy,
Dave from Windsor, Chuck from Belleville
I had evening hours at 'DTK
Just so that Mark Wilson
Could sober up, and call my show
Greener grass is always my goal
It can pull me 15 ways at once
With a dream in my heart I'm always restless
Dreams turn into dust and blow away
And when I lose another job
I blame it all on someone else
Football blocked my show at 'DTK
Crazy remote shows at 'DTK
Luke was once my friend at 'DTK
Do You Know the Way to 'DTK?
Do you know the way to 'DTK?
I've been away so long

Ron's passage from the scene certainly hasn't dulled your creative juices, Bobbert. Well done! Hard to believe it was only a year ago, though, that Ron's life imploded. When I shortly thereafter told my uninitiated sister that I was the first poster to note Ron's transgression, which led to his firing, she was concerned for my safety. I immediately disabused her of that notion.Bobbert wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 10:52 am Here is a parody of "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" on the first anniversary of Ron's infamous departure from WDTK (https://mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/viewtopi ... 25#p738148).

Re: Ron Cameron
I wonder if Comcast was the cable provider at Ron's last motel? If so, Ron would not have reacted well. He was already banned from Comerica by Colangelo. And now this news. He couldn't listen to the much-hated Dan Dickerson on the radio while he was on the air, so he would have had to rely on callers with access to the tv coverage to provide play-by-play. He would've been on the move, again, in short order.

It's sad to think that simple verbal slip was probably the beginning of the end, although Martin helped keep things on an even keel through the summer months, before Ron's mood and control of his life took a plunge in the fall.Momo wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 12:36 pmRon's passage from the scene certainly hasn't dulled your creative juices, Bobbert. This was a fun way to reminisce about the days at 'DTK. I really enjoyed those Sunday morning roundtable pre-show discussions we had before his Sunday night show.

I agree 100% on the Sunday night shows, not sure if it was becouse it was the end of the week to wind things down, football on in the background during the fall and winter. I enjoyed those shows the most as well when it came to our feedback during the showBobbert wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 11:04 amIt's sad to think that simple verbal slip was probably the beginning of the end, although Martin helped keep things on an even keel through the summer months, before Ron's mood and control of his life took a plunge in the fall.Momo wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 12:36 pmRon's passage from the scene certainly hasn't dulled your creative juices, Bobbert. Re: Ron Cameron
I heard Mr. Positive yesterday evening on 97.1 at about 6:30. He thinks that Spencer Torkelson might need some psychiatric help.
When Mr. Positive said, "Let me ask you something, real quick," I had a "real quick" flashback to Ron's show.

Re: Ron Cameron
I once thought Mr. Positive “real quick” tic was his takeoff on JJ.
Re: Ron Cameron
Mr. Positive is speaking to Jody Mac on Infinity Sports as I type this! He's a national phenomenon!
Re: Ron Cameron
I've been in contact with someone at the Motor City Radio Flashbacks website about posting more of Ron's old shows on that site (https://mcrfb.com/). I've given him links to content that I've posted here. He's interested in hearing from other people in this discussion thread about any shows they would like to post on that site.
Here is his contact information:

Thank you, for sharing the links! More on this later on, and thank you kindly, again, for visiting Motor City Radio Flashbacks.

If so, we can look to more recent broadcasts. I wonder if there'd be any interest in Ron's (1/2020) remote show from Loui's Pizza.I have a bunch of interviews that Ron did on WDTK in late 2016 and early 2017 that you might be interested in. Many of them probably have historical value because Ron was one of the few sportscasters who was interested in talking with these people at that time.
Here is a list of interviewees:
Bill Scherrer ('84 Tiger)
Johnny Grubb ('84 Tiger)
Denny McLain
Roger Faulkner (soccer personality)
Jim Leyland
Bump Elliott (former UM coach)
Tommy LaSorda
Jerry Green
Ed Coil (former Pistons executive)
Bob Wolff (famous N.Y.-based sports announcer)
Hal Naragon ('68 Tigers coach)
Bryan Watson (hockey player in 60s and 70s)
Bob Miller (MLB player, UD baseball coach)
Dave Bing
Ed Giacomin (hockey player in 60s and 70s)

Re: Ron Cameron
Bobbert, thanks for the contact information regarding Motor City Radio Flashbacks. As I've mentioned earlier I have recorded much, if not most of the last few years of Ron's broadcasts. In spite of Mr. Cameron's insistence that his WDTK emanations were being saved as podcasts, I knew better and began recording off WDTK's stream. Re the January 2020 classic Loui's Pizza remote broadcast, the show has been available via the web for sometime.
Re: Ron Cameron
Maybe. I also gave Jim the link to the Amazon podcasts, which includes that show:Momo wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 1:58 pmWas the list was exclusively from '16 & '17, Bobbert?Bobbert wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 10:00 am I've been in contact with someone at the Motor City Radio Flashbacks website about posting more of Ron's old shows on that site (https://mcrfb.com/). I referred him to Google, where a lot of pictures are available from the news coverage of Ron's death.ShempLives wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 10:29 pm Bobbert, thanks for the contact information regarding Motor City Radio Flashbacks.
