CKWW sounds like hot garbage

Horrendous hum and poor modulation currently on 580. CKLW meanwhile is fine.

I noticed the same. Thought it was my radio or some interference in the house, so I switched radios and relocated. Still a hum.

As the hum continues, the sound reminds me of my stereo system in the 1970's. If the turntable wasn't grounded, a hum occurred. Perhaps something at CKWW isn't grounded?

How much longer before the format is changed?

That high pitched hum is definitely not a ground wire. :lol

I'm not sure what it is, but the CE should be able to pinpoint it (assuming there's still one on the payroll)

Listen online. No buzzing and digital quality.

I would think they know by now. It's either a major issue or they just don't care since a sale is pending.

Earlier today it was a mix of the hum and dead air. It it was dead air for longer periods I would say Ray has taken over and moving equipment but there's no record to my knowledge of the sale being approved by the CRTC.

Have heard the hum for a few days. This afternoon it is half buried under noise like a very distant station.

The audio level seems to jump up and down. No hum though. Hopefully it’s it’s fixed and not choked off so The Big 8 doesn’t die an undignified death… again.

I agree - I like CKWW's playlist that sounds so much like early 70s CKLW, CanCon and all. My go-to station when working in the garage or doing yardwork, grilling, etc.

For those who would like the current CKWW to stick around a little longer, this might be a good year. Some interventions were filed in response to the Hamilton stations trying to get into the Toronto radio market. There are twelve documents. The CRTC decision will be made after they are considered. They also are required to release the decisions in both English and French.
