WADL didnt show the CW ACC football game this past saturday
Re: WADL didnt show the CW ACC football game this past saturday
This actually kinda sucks for me, because "Whose Line is it Anyway" is the only show on a "Big 5" network that I watch. Lucky for me, at least I can get WTVG.

CW is not going to a low power station in a market this size. LPTVs have spotty cable and satellite coverage at best.
Re: WADL didnt show the CW ACC football game this past saturday
It was expected that WADL would be purchased by Mission Broadcasting.

Kevin Adell could've been CBS but he made demands that CBS refused and CBS bought channel 62. Seems that Kevin burns bridges, I was surprised by WADL yanked The CW when Mission Broadcasting is going to buy the station? I wonder if Kevin is having second thoughts on selling channel 38.

To be fair, the CBS breakdown may have been more his father Franklin. Kevin was in his 20s at that time and while I’m sure he was consulted, he didn’t make the final decision.
Remember, WXYZ and WXON also passed on CBS (WDIV was in a longterm contract with NBC, WKBD had committed to UPN due to ownership, and I don’t think WBSX was approached due to the tower being near Chelsea and poor cable coverage in the eastern suburbs).

I find it sad that the WKBD that once was… has been reduced to reruns of what appears to be mid 2000’s Dateline.

Yes! I agree. Love me some Whose Line.
I saw an interview with Drew Carey where he said that he still gets approached more by people wanting to talk about Whose Line (which he probably has not hosted in over 15 years at this point) than any show of which he has been a part.

The insight I can offer on the Lansing market's CW situation:Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 6:29 pm We have something weird over this way. WLAJ (ABC) and WLNS (CBS) do something of a time share. WLNS runs their news on WLAJ, and WLAJ 53.2 has some kind of alternate CW. Strange stuff.
* It's a single broadcast stream (on RF14) that provides the virtual channels:
6.1 WLNS (CBS affiliate WLNS, as the "guest" on RF14) 1080i HD
53.1 WLAJ (ABC affiliate) 720p HD
53.2 WLAJ (CW programming) 720p HD
* Both licensed stations are basically owned by Nexstar, as WLAJ is officially held by Mission Broadcasting, who has a Shared Services Agreement (SSA) with Nexstar (WLNS's licensed owner) to operate WLAJ.
* WLAJ is actually CW+, since Lansing is a small market size. Northern Michigan's CW seems to also be the CW+ service. Wikipedia article explains it better than what I'd type: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_CW_Plus . This might be why Mega Hertz noted WLAJ 53.2 being different than how CW previously was presented in Detroit, or continues to be in West Michigan (on WWMT 3.2 RF7 as 1080i HD).
