Not All Past Infections Contribute to Herd Immunity

Unread post by MotorCityRadioFreak »

As we saw through our well respected friend zzand and his daughter, immunity is not guaranteed past 6 months after initial COVID infection. This furthers my believe that herd immunity is unlikely when combined with continued COVID fires in India.

Where's the "science" behind this??

“Contracting COVID does not create the kind of immunity we’re looking for”, yet we were told last year (several time) that folks how contracted COVID had still shown immunities at least 9 months later. Apparently we still don't know how long the vaccines give you protection, but there's an awful lot of talk and planning about getting booster shots for the vaccines annually, or maybe even more often.

So, it appears the vaccines don't protect you forever, and neither does actually contracting (and recovering) from COVID. Either you count them both, or you don't count either.

The vaccine is good for at least a year. Most COVID cases offer 6 months of immunity. That's a substantial difference.
