Winning the presidency while losing the popular vote seems to be a recipe for what we all witnessed the last 4 years. Not enough came together to move everyone forward. Given the chance to build bridges, Trump instead opted to napalm them and people reacted accordingly.

As a fan of history, I still lean towards favoring the Electoral College. As a disgruntled citizen after the 45th presidency, I'm thinking there should be a way to better balance how we elect presidents.

I'm just not smart enough to know the solution.

When are you going to lambast him for Vietnam deferrals? Is that no longer a thing?

I think much of the point and criticism about Donald Trump avoiding Vietnam had more to do with the fact that he has no experience with the military. Well Biden also got deferrals for his time in college and asthma his experience in working with the military is extensive as he has been serving in leadership for many many years.

I'm not going to suggest that asthma is any more legitimate a deferral reason then a bone spur.

Biden received five student draft deferments and a medical exemption
Born in November 1942, Biden came of age amid the Vietnam War. But unlike millions of men of his generation, he never served in the military.

Biden received five student draft deferments, first as an undergraduate at the University of Delaware and later as a law student at Syracuse University.

And after a medical exam in April 1968, he received the "1-Y" classification, which meant he could only be drafted in a national emergency.

Biden released his Selective Service records to the Associated Press in 2008. At the time, a spokesperson said he was "disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager," per The News Journal.

Born in June 1946, Trump was also a member of the generation called up to serve in the Vietnam War. Like Biden, he never did.

He received four student draft deferments while an undergraduate at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

And in the spring of 1968, he, too, received the "1-Y" classification — for bone spurs in his heels, per The New York Times.

Biden did have a son who served in Iraq and received a Bronze Star. Trump has a son who poached and killed endangered animals.

Eugene Goodman, a Capitol Police officer who was captured on video facing down members of the mob that breached the Capitol on Jan. 6 and diverting them from entering the Senate chamber and potentially saving lives, was elevated to serve as the No. 2 security official in the Senate for the inaugural events on Wednesday.

As the acting deputy Senate sergeant-at-arms, Officer Goodman, a Black man who fended off a mostly white throng, was part of the official escort accompanying Vice President Kamala Harris to the platform outside the Capitol where she was sworn into the nation’s second-highest office.

The mention of his name was greeted with loud applause as he appeared at the arched entranceway where rioters breached the building exactly two weeks earlier.
