Winter Olympics
Winter Olympics
Is anyone watching the Winter Olympics? Right now I'm watching Ski Jumping at 2AM, which has turned into an odd ritual, (watching Olympic sports in the middle of the night every 2 years, winter and summer.)
Re: Winter Olympics
I am a curling fan, I attend many of the World cup and national bonspiels. I am climbing up a tree with this coverage. The stuff you can stream for free on YouTube every week has better announcers than what NBC has put together for the Olympic coverage. They don't even use the proper terminology for the sport.
Fortunately, with the help of Reddit I can stream the Canadian coverage which is much better.

My wife is a big fan overall but especially figure skating.
She is one of those people who will try to hide in a bubble so she can watch something that is already over without knowing the outcome.

Re: Winter Olympics
I am boycotting the Olympics due to China's horrid human rights record as well as Ping and Putin's meeting. This is a propaganda piece if you ask me.
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Intercourse the politics.
Not usually a fan of figure skating, but watching Nathan Chen skate to Gold overnight was pretty engaging. The Japanese skaters he had to best were very good... Go USA!!!

Gold coast ties to another Olympic 'sport'...
Those who always wanted to give curling a try, & will be in TC this superbowl weekend, can Give It A Curl for $15 5-7pm Saturday 2/12/22 @ Centre Ice.
As of this writing, the opening for 150 participants is about half-full... less expensive and not nearly as many disclaimers to sign vs. a hour of axe-throwing...

USA beat Canada in hockey 4 - 2. It has been 42 years since 1980 that the USA won gold.

Tonight's Local 4 News will be at 10:30 PM this evening. At 11:05 NBC is airing the USA / Canada Women's Hockey Gold Medal Final live.
Maybe someday I'll figure out this whole Curling thing.

Re: Winter Olympics
The closest rock to the middle (button) gets the point for that round (called an end). If a team has the two closest to the button after each end, they get two points. Only one team gets any points after each end. Closest to the button wins. After they play all the ends, the most points wins.
In a nutshell, that's it. Like chess on ice. Simple concept with a lot of strategy.

Thanks for the info.
I am watching the Women's Figure Skating right now. The 15 year old skater who failed the drug test did not make the podium. Her team mate won. The scene I am witnessing now on The USA Network can best be described as an emotional clusterf****.
