Re: All Five Teams
Why not, when corporate sponsors are willing to foot the bill to feed our insatiable appetite for holiday season football on television, no matter how mediocre the teams. Goodness, a mere six wins and a .500 overall record is now the threshold for bowl eligibility. It's getting to be like the NHL playoffs where seemingly half the teams are eligible and the regular season means practically nil unless a team is on the cusp of mediocrity.

I think think New Mexico Bowl is sponsored by Los Pollos Hermandos and The A1A Car Wash.
I always liked the numerous smaller bowls. It gives fans of those school something to look forward to. Also it's a economic boost to some places, (some more than others.)

Some places... if you’re the Group of 5 choice to play in the New Years 6. WMU lost money on most of its bowl appearances. The notable exception is the 2017 Cotton Bowl (from the 13-0 2016 Fleck team).sfpcc wrote:I think think New Mexico Bowl is sponsored by Los Pollos Hermandos and The A1A Car Wash.

Actually I was thinking about the cities the bowls take place in, (especially smaller cities like Mobile, Albuquerque, Shreveport and Boise) not the schools themselves.

The mostly half-empty stands should tell you something in that regard.
