MLB Playoffs
Who else wants to see Verlander and Scherzer square off against each other in the World Series?

Re: MLB Playoffs
Thought the exact same thing when the Nats clinched. JV, Scherzer, Anibel.....just add David Price and Rick Porcello and it'll be just like the 2014 World Series when the Tigers......oh that's right. THAT rotation got swept by the Baltimore Orioles and didn't even get to the damn ALCS.moldyoldie wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2019 9:11 amWho else wants to see Verlander and Scherzer square off against each other in the World Series?

Re: MLB Playoffs
It’s still bizarre to me seeing Houston in the AL. That being said, I want them to go all the way since St. Louis lost, though a Washington post Harper is intriguing.
Re: MLB Playoffs
They've been in the AL for 5 years, beat the Dodgers in the WS and I am like you, think of them as an NL team. Brewers should still be in the AL too.
Seems like anytime a team sweeps the Championship series though, they lose the WS. I can remember 2006....2012......

Re: MLB Playoffs
Tigers didn't sweep in 2006. They won in 5.
Looking good, though, for this year! Astros beat the living snot out of the Yankees last night to take a 3 - 1 lead.

Re: MLB Playoffs
The way things are shaping up, it doesn't look as if Scherzer and Verlander will face off against each other in the World Series since the latter will be starting tonight in Game 5 of the NLCS, not unless for some reason the Nationals choose to start Strasburg or Sanchez in the WS opener.

Re: MLB Playoffs
All the scoring in last night's game occurred in the early innings.
One bad inning for Verlander doomed the Astros. Of course, their offense did squat to help the cause.
Hopefully with the series moving back to Houston, the Astros can seal the deal tonight.

Jose Altuve with a great walk-off home run to left center field!!!
I've always loved Altuve's game. He is my favorite player on offense in MLB. I actually attended a regular season game in 2015 in Houston where Altuve hit a walk-off home run against the Red Sox.
Looking forward to this World Series.

His defense and speed isn’t too shabby either.

Washington Nationals (formerly the Washington Senators & Montreal Expos) against the Houston Astros!!
Re: MLB Playoffs
They were never the Senators. The Twins and Rangers can claim that lineage.
Re: MLB Playoffs
I think that they were in the late 60's & early 70's called the Washington Senators.

Re: MLB Playoffs
The first Washington Senators franchise moved to Minnesota and became the Twins.
The second so-named franchise, a '60s AL expansion team, moved to Texas and became the Rangers.
The current Washington Nationals franchise were once the erstwhile Montreal Expos, a '70s NL expansion team, previous to their move to D.C.
