Ferris State
Ferris State
Ferris State is going to be in the NCAA division 2 Championship. They'll play Georgia's Valdosta State in Texas next Saturday. Has anyone heard of anyone talking about this on Detroit Sports Radio? (Local 4's sportscast did not mention it. Maybe they'll talk about it tomorrow night.)

Nothing but crickets. Could be a nice comeback story for the kid from Cass Tech

Channel 7 mentioned Ferris State and Jayru Campbell on their 11 PM broadcast.

Re: Ferris State
99% of the radio & TV audience in Metro Detroit could give two rips about Division II athletics.
Most of the 1% who do care are likely affiliated with Wayne State.
The Ferris State story is important to some alums as well as residents of the Big Rapids area. I'm not saying this to diminish the team's accomplishments. Rather, I'm suggesting that the story simply isn't of much interest to Metro Detroit viewers and listeners.
To give some perspective here - even Michigan & Michigan State's basketball teams receive minimal discussion time on Detroit sports radio.

Re: Ferris State
When Wayne State met the Pittsburg State Gorillas (Kansas) a few years ago for the same Division II Championship, I was flummoxed as to why it received so little coverage or promotion on Detroit area media. I'll be watching the Bulldogs this afternoon!
It's on ESPNU at 4:00pm.

Postscript: : Valdosta State beat Ferris State 49 to 47.
