Song Re-Releases

There are many Top 40 hits that have been released more than once. I have a few that have caught my attention in the recent past. Originally released in 1957 by Detroit’s very own late great Jackie Wilson who had a 1986 re-release with the song “Reet Petite”. The next one is from 1965 by The Newbeats the song “Run Baby Run” which was re-released in 1971 which was actually released as a B-side to “Am I Not My Brothers Keeper” and this one everyone knows is by Bobby “Boris” Pickett “Monster Mash” originally released in 1962 and re-released in 1970 and again in 1973 this song even made the Billboard charts in 2021 once again. It would be interesting to see how many other songs that have been re-released.

A popular one back in the day was "Nights In White Satin" by the Moody Blues. Originally released in 1967 as a single as well as on the album Days of Future Passed, it was re-released as a single in 1972 and zoomed to #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the U.S. Cash Box Top 100.

There was a mass re-release of Beatles singles in 1976.

The re-packaged singles all charted on the UK Singles Chart, and "Yesterday" peaked at number 8. During one week in April 1976, the band had an unprecedented 23 entries in the UK top 100 positions.
