Re: RIP McCoy Tyner
Saw Tyner and his mid-'70s combo play at a small repurposed machine shop/warehouse on Selden between Cass and Second Ave. in Detroit called the Strata Concert Gallery. Dynamite! I know a few jazz aficionados who don't appreciate his ultra-percussive piano stylings, but the flames produced that night burned through me for weeks!
His work with Coltrane, of course, is well-nigh legendary.
