Any Robins Yet?

One of the first harbingers of spring is always the first robin sighting. They usually start showing up around the first or second week of March.

Has anyone seen one yet?

Yessir! Saw quite a few of them back in SE Michigan last weekend. Been hearing them singing too.

Last fall I made a Robin nesting box and mounted it up on the side of my shed. When I get back home next month, I'll be curious to see if they've used it.

They're a little late this year compared to the past couple years, but then again, I started seeing them pretty darn early in 2021 and 2020. :)

I heard my first robin chirps coming from a tree two weekends ago, and I saw my first robin hopping along on the ground just yesterday.

Wife informed me that there were 7 robins in our front yard when she got up…

I've seen them for a few weeks in a fruit tree outside my upstairs window. The geese starting returning a couple of weeks ago—their honking is also a welcome sign of spring.

They've been hanging around here all winter in recent years. One flew into my garage a few weeks ago.

My neighborhood usually does not get any robins. We do have a lot of geese who poop on the sidewalk. Geese pooping in the sidewalk is a better sign of spring coming than the robins.

Fascinating about the geese. :lol

The robin population has exploded around here in the last ten or twenty years! There's a trio of them foraging for nesting material outside the window as I type this. One couple is building a nest in the front yew shrub, probably the same ones who had two broods in the same shrub last year.

I had one in the North wing of the house about March 18th. She has built a nest in the chimney and fell. I got her out safely.
