Listened to many of his Stern show appearances.
He was indeed funny to the extreme. He did loose his AFLAC gig voicing the duck because of one of his offensive bits on the Stern show.
Not sure that's right, Bryce. AFLAC apparently has a H*** Japanese clientele, and after the tsunami, he cracked a joke that " The Japanese are so advanced, they don't go to the beach, they have the beach come to them".

He's the only comedian Seinfeld openly hated. So he had that going for him too.
Seinfeld sucks.

I never heard Seinfeld hated Gilbert. Can we get some background here?

That link virtually exonerates him.

Yeah, but TCT is the one that suggested there was bad blood, and his comprehension ability is shit. I assumed that is what he was referencing.

That could be right. I just remember him getting fired shortly after hearing him on Stern where he got way over the top about doing things to little boys in diapers. Thought for sure that was it.

I remember Gilbert for his appearances on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno - he always played a goofy character on a quiz show.

I also remember he was featured as himself on an entire episode of Married with Children where Al, Peggy, a fat woman, and Gilbert are lost at sea on a life raft. His interactions with Al Bundy were hysterical.

I was a gigantic Gilbert Gottfried fan.

Watched most of the Comedy Central roasts where he participated. Watched his biographical movie (which was outstanding, I might add). Listened to many of his Stern show appearances.

Loved his impressions of Groucho "near the end". Loved his extremely filthy renditions of the Aristocrats joke.

Even his corny Andrew Dice Clay impressions were rather funny.

He leaves behind two school age children and a widow.

R.I.P. Gilbert.
I only knew him from his guest spots on MeTV's Svengoolie, which were very funny.

Sorry to hear about him go. I met him once on a flight from New York to Chicago. Nice guy. The TV persona wasn't there at all.
Honeyman has it right about why Aflac let him go.

Condolences to the family. Never cared for him as a comedian, but it’s obvious he was loved by many and a seemingly good man.
