Alternate FM channel use in Canada

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

Alternate FM channel use in Canada

Unread post by Marcus »

In Toronto the channels on both sides of Classical 96.3 are used. 95.9 in Country Music and 96.7 simulcasts AM 740. In addition to that 98.7 CKFG is right below CBC Radio One which is on 99.1 MHz.

Could both 95.5 and 96.3 be used in London, Ontario under the condition that they protect Detroit?

I don't think directional ants are used for protecting other stations on FM like they do on AM ??

They are. 95.5 would protect Detroit and Hamilton which has a big signal on 95.3.

96.3 would protect both Detroit and Toronto. The ERP would also be at least 20 db less than what FM 96 (95.9) transmits with.
