Sporadic E Skip DX Today

Unread post by Ben Zonia »

There is a subsidiary Sporadic E Skip DX peak this time of year.

Just heard KLTY 94.9 Arlington, TX near Pellston at about 11:00 AM EST.

Back when Class As were all on reserved channels, and no more than 3000 watts, you could still hear them 1000 miles away with no problem. Because there were more stations on the channel, they tended not to be heard as long before another fairly close cochannel station would come in for a while.

Because there are no stations in the Atlantic Ocean, and the distance is around 600 miles, Class A stations such as WLNG 92.1 Sag Harbor, NY come in frequently, and some other Long Island Class A stations.
